yeh i get down -8 here in winter and 5/50 starts with no rattle, oil pressure gets up quick, though 15/50 will sit for a second and rattle and oil light/pressure is low for a half second. Perhaps will go back to 15/50 and just use 5/50 in the couple of really cold months in winter.

ide say pcv issue do you still have a fresh air inlet into the crankcase .you have to have fresh air in and pcv out to vacuam side of TB to suck the acidic crap out if not it just sits in the engine

minus 8 in QLD??

man that's as cold as we are in renown "cold Kyneton"

I found oil grade don't help my engine, seem to be a problem with air filling the system after shutdown. It always done in since I got the engine at 80k. makes a horrible metallic screech-neooow sound for a a sec or 2 when started after a while of sitting. The sound comes from the front cover. I guess that is the oil pumps's outer rotor rattling of its, head banging around in the housing until oil fills it. The sound coincides with oil pressure building on start up.

Well its been like this for nearly 200k of abusing driving on top of what it already had  haha whatever. Its all good.

intake is still stock with the intake hose from the TB to the LIM for crankcase intake. Yeh between us and stanthorpe/applethorpe for winter temps.

Yeh id never use ryco always knew they were dodgy there seals are crap to. I only use the white GM filters or Blue ACDelco ones.

yeah I used GM ones too, but they don't have anti drain valve so it make my problem worse lol. I find ryco ones much better for the issue I have. Never had any problems with the ryco ones like other seem to have.

most have anti drainback look at the small holes surrounding the bigger hole in the middle.the drainback vavle is simply that flap of neoprene that can be seen through the holes

no, the genuine GM (made in Poland) filter for V6 do not have this valve. I even cut one open to make sure. its just a straight filter, no valve.

The ryco however have this flap valve.
