I labeled all the wires as I removed each one  I heard about the 2 bolts and not to over tighten somewhere (maybe in this thread  ) yes I had to replace alternator bracket I think this engine was out of a WB Holden (maybe) and alternator was on the other side, I know that is where A/C goes but figure will mount under alternator as it is uggly

Putting the wiring in today. One thing I was thinking is will all the engine wires reach their locations since the wiring is off a 6 cylinder.

Hi Guy's The wiring is in, just needed to extend the alternator wires and the temperature sensor wire. Looks like the engine will get started this weekend. I hear you need to fill the oil pump with oil before starting the engine is that right? Looking for advice on what to do before the engine gets started. How long should it run for on first start? should it be run at idle? any tips would be great

I find the best way to prime is to hold the assembled pump horizontal and fill with oil through the cavity. Fit the pre filled filter first. Then offer it up to the block. If the engine is still on the stand (not in your case), rotate the engine until the pump mounting surface is also horizontal. No spillage.
Filling the gears with PJ only adds extra gunk to clog up galleries etc lol.
If new cam, run for 20 minutes @ 2000 RPM to bed the cam in. Find some ZDDP additive to coat the cam and lifter feet (if new).
You can also buy running in oil from Penrite. Always good insurance.

Can you fill the oil pump up via the oil sensor hole? I remember :hmm: reading that some where, do you think that would work? the engine is in the car. Cam has had ZDDP additive to coat and got the running in oil from Penrite also

Never lost an engine lol
You will have to pre-install the two (of the four) pump-to-block bolts onto the assembly before you fit the pre-filled filter.
Also line up the oil pump drive before you fit, that way you won't have to faff around trying to align everything later

Will do  also what fuel to run? no super these days :hmm:

Otherwise, there is some advice here:

I don't know if they are hardened valve seats or not, anyway to tell now the engine is together?
