Re: My Delcoed Rides
yeah i asked my mate about that (he did the machine work) and he said he wouldn't recommend it where the seats are cut....
i reckon if the motor was 060 oversize it would be right, its currently 040!

Re: My Delcoed Rides
well the block has been suitably relieved, i can get some valves to hit if i push them to coil bind point, but this is far and beyond max valve lift so im happy its not going to cause any issues now
i've also got an ARP head stud kit on order but thats not going to be here till the end of the month so atleast that will give me some time to get the bottom end back together and save some more money to hopefully get the last few bits i need at the same time.
so all in all, more work but all issues now resolved and hopefully smooth sailing from here on out, although it looks like i might have to buy the dear option in pushrods but these are the challenges in custom stuff i guess!

Re: My Delcoed Rides
got the bottom end back together this arvo, everything seems to be ok, theres a good few mm between where i've die grinded and where the top ring is so im happy with that, below picture shows just how much i have removed, i really only needed to remove a small area, but i went further to make it into a nice flowing bit, and also this will help air flow around the edge of the valve into the bore.
the bit die grinded out actually go to the edge of the head gasket, i'm not really sure why the head gaskets are made that shape but you get that!
so now i just have to wait for a week or two before my head stud kit arrives, then i'll be able to get the head on!

Re: My Delcoed Rides
hahahaha well i haven't really been sleepless over this issue, it is definately good to have it almost back to where it was before i found the issue, but yeah i will be certainly sleeping easy knowing i wont smash valves at the turn of the key.

Where are you getting your ARP stud kit from?
Do you have a part number for your kit?

Re: My Delcoed Rides
Thanks Holden202. I have ARP head studs fitted to another 202, but the part # isn't an ARP no. The main kit & rod bolts I knew about. I found that a large Australian performance parts supplier has the Chev 6 main stud kit listed to fit the Holden 6 as head studs, but the studs are too short.

Re: My Delcoed Rides
The studs that I used were made up from loose studs & nuts, with the supplier using there own number system, they are genuine ARP as they are all stamped.
