yeah I had 4 options from my spell check, I just chose the one that sounded the most American fighter pilot, when they say it I can hear a "d" in the word

I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

You'd think there would be a market for something like this, plenty of guys fixing up early Commodores.

So you want the threaded shaft thingos, no nuts? but you need them for screwing. I can include loctite for protection.VL400 wrote:I'll take a set, should be pretty much all the same on a VL I think?vlad01 wrote:hands up on who wants repro suspension bolt kit for for VN-VS in rust proof GEOMET coating![]()

Re: Vlad's rides thread
Also just FYI guys EPW in Moorabbin do E-coat, although I knew this for years I had impression it was for commercial large volume customers only. No, they do small one off stuff too. This opens up so many options for future projects.
For this car I'm looking at doing the front and rear bumper irons and brake booster housing.
For the VP S I will do everything practical that was either factory e-coated and anything else that is steel and needs to be black. Things like control arms, brake backing plates, brackets, pulleys etc..

Re: Vlad's rides thread
Just scored myself a NOS pair of corvette rear calipers, just the calipers and not the brackets but they are easy to get on ebay 2nd hand.
I'll put these away for the S

Re: Vlad's rides thread
Update time.
I might show the results of my E85 corrosion test I setup late spring last year.
Basically I filled a jar 2/3rd with E85 and left the lid sitting on but not done up to allow air to easily get in.
No problems were seen with any of the metals or rubber except a sample of the Holden in tank return line which absorbed ethanol and swelled up and became soft and flaky but otherwise completely returned back to normal when left in normal fuel or air which the ethanol was allowed to diffuse back out.
As for the metal, nothing happen for the 7-8 months there was liquid where at that point all the contents evaporated out to leave a green oily residue at the bottom.
Fast forward to now something finally started to happen with quite a few months of the metals sitting in this green stuff (additives and what not) Not sure if it was just this stuff that alone caused the strange chemical reactions or the fact we did have up to early summer extremely wet and cold weather with stupidly high humidity (90%+ nearly every day for 6 months) so there could of been water droplets that had condensed at the bottom of the jar as it was sitting on the stone cold concrete the whole time. Looking at how the corrosion is only on the contact of the glass on the underside and not on any other part despite its being all covered in the green oily stuff, thats the most likely cause.
This happen long long after the ethanol and petrol were all gone so its nice to varify that all the opposition due to the "corrosive effect" is bs and way over exaggerated. It took extreme conditions and vast time to produce any effect and it was completely unrelated to ethanol itself.
You can see by the pics that only few isolated crystals on the zincalum (zinc alumimium alloy) went pure black and seemed like that all the way down, no corrosion what so ever on the bare iron edge. The bolt was a few spots on the edge touching the glass. Anodized aluminum, perfect.
Ok enough on that.
So here is where the car is up to.
Just need to seal up the holes in the body and tomorrow I will be cleaning the shit out of the whole body in preparation to start stripping back the paint.
