Re: Toyota Powered VL Calais
just did a quick search and found this http://lukeskaff.com/projects/car/cadil ... m-project/ looks like brineys on the money and they can be used with only one crank sensor but it will loose it "fast start" feature. would be nice to ditch the dizzy off the old 304 almost

Just to veer off topic a bit more, I reckon the 3uz crank trigger wheel could be modded to only have 4 lobes (lumps? nuggets?) on it, simulating a v8 dizzy. Aside from your module, how else could you drive the 2 coils? I assume the dizzies are 90 degrees out of phase from each other.

Re: Toyota Powered VL Calais
I did try that initially, left 4 teeth from the factory 12 tooth trigger in such a way it would have a 10deg ref angle and then a circuit to read the cam signal (for a home/tdc #1 reference) and then switch between two camira ign modules (the dizzies are 90deg out so it alternates between firing them). It never worked 100% so decided to go with a custom module instead.
There are a few ways but wanted it to look factory using two normal coils, so the single chev dizzy or twin crank triggers and modules were not really considered.

Re: Toyota Powered VL Calais
Been pretty slack on the updates of late, but things have progressed along. Was a little selective on the pics through this thread as I was still unsure if it would all work out and actually fit. Have always wanted to jam some air in the baby Toyota V8 but didnt want to cut holes in the car, actually wanted to fill holes in from the old CAI. So now it is part Holden, part Toyota, and dare I say it part Ford.
Am sure the pics will tell the story, and yes more sensors too!

Re: Toyota Powered VL Calais
Thanks guys.
The air temp on each end tank of the cooler is this one .. https://www.efihardware.com/products/16 ... ies-18-bsp
Pressure sensor is the usual ebay style, its on the hot side of the cooler, so with MAP can measure the pressure drop.
Am also using this for trans fluid temp .. https://www.efihardware.com/products/16 ... ort-series
