Yes, the Friday is for ANDRA licenses only. Fingers crossed it doesn't rain.

and this is why.

SOOOO .... first run of the night, went out, this is fresh motor with so much changed its not funny, and the only tune i had in it was a rough one i worked out from home dynos!
So i stand on the gas and its spluttering like no tomorrow, once it got to about 3500-4000rpm or so it came good and really started to pull, so anyways all good, went through for a lazy 15.1 @ 148km/h, so went back to the pits and looked at the logs, and saw low down rpms was 4 AFR and for those not up on methanol, the target AFR was 5.2 and stoich of 6.4 .... so adjusted and went back and lined up.

second run, it was sounding perfect in the burnout and then as i came off the brake and the slicks were gripping up wham! dropped a cylinder. I probably shouldn't have bothered the run but i thought it was just some spluttering like previous and it would clear ... in the end i did a 16.9 on 5 cylinders and left half the radiator on the start line apparently!

as you would imagine trailer time, so we did some checks, and saw mayo in the tappet cover, and assumed head gasket ..... the log for the second run im not even sure if its worth looking at due to a cylinder probably diluting the wideband readings but if it can be trusted it was still rich in the same spot and lean in the same spot as the first run, just not as bad.

so anyways, everything looks fine in the motor other than some rust from coolant and the head gasket of course .... we did see some marks to show it was pinging and possibly this caused the issue, but we are going to deburr the head a bit and also look at maybe slightly dropping the comp a bit, also trying to get my hands on an ACL race series gasket cause i've never had an issue with them and 2 other brand ones i've used now have both failed, so yeah we'll see how it all goes i guess.

on a side note, the new v8 trimatic and higher stall worked a treat as did the slicks and front runners, really just need to keep the bangs in the right spot and i should be having some fun. I also crossed the line at 4500rpm in top gear so i'm looking at changing the diff from 3.45 to 4.11 which should give me a bit more suitable gearing so will be doing that before i go back to the track, and im definately going to dyno it before i go back!

i will put the vids on you tube of my runs from in the car for you all to see, but they are pretty lame :P

Sounds like a cheap fix if you are not paying for your time.
Reminds me of the HQ racing when running to much timing.
As for travel our track is about 10 km from base but race any were else and it 1000km to 1500km or more.
we did 1000km unloaded did one warm up run and stuffed the trans. now that suxs, but was good party after.
then 10 hour drive home to think about what went wrong lol.
All I can say is last time I used methanol at the drags it cost me a piston so now I stick to 98 or E85.
I still want to see a good time out of the gemini.
Don't make excuses. Make more horsepower.
