Ok just to check with the earth have you tried putting it straight on the car body?
Just incase the wire you tapped into is not a true earth.
If so will just have to try what antus said.

PCM log is where you use an ALDL cable and record what the pcm is seeing (with tunerpro) in KPH. It does sound like you have a wiring problem though and/or a dead sensor, unfortunately. You need to swap parts around and check wiring like vs ss says to try to narrow down what part is at fault.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Re: t5 manual speedo
No worries just grab one off a vn/vp auto cause the sensor is the same.

There is a guy in Morrabin who sells new ones too. its hard to find used ones where the wires haven't gone brittle and snapped the insulation.

Re: t5 manual speedo
hi mate,
just wondering if you had any luck with yor speedo yet, if you are using an auto computer (im unsure of what is included in the kit you have from the one, but I have read through all posts but didn't see type of computer mentioned other than ecotce), the only way I got the speeod working on my vs auto to manual conversion was to cut the wire to the computer at the passenger side foot well.
as when I spliced into the loom the computer interfered with the signal and the speedo would work once in a blue moon and flicker etc, might be worth a try, before you buy a new sensor, but if you do this, your computer wont know your moving and will possibly cause idle issues when clutching at speed.
cheers gareth
