And knowing how to find is the real key to getting stuff. Learning how to connect the dots and trail things together with any small hints and info you can find.
Sometimes it takes me months, years even to eventually find hard to get bits by using this method. Some things on the net are hidden from logic and listed as different names, descriptions (or none at all), not even marked by Google bots to be found by search engine. So you have to get good at it and lots of patients.
Asking people from sites for info helps too. Also mag articles are a huge clue field, lots of little info you can use to find other people and sites that were involved in the article which may have what you want.

Be interesting to see how the engine goes with a MAP based tune
Awesome
I've been looking for some of these for ages
That tubing looks killer too, top job

Hey, just had a light bulb moment, isn't the VR balancer (reluctor) different to the ecotec...
So if thats right I'll need to either rebalance the engine with a different balancer or swap the reluctor wheels?

Same trigger pattern behind the balancer from VN to VY on the V6.

Is the keyway location different then? I have heard of people having the ignition timing out by 10 degrees by using the wrong balancer...?

nah, same. cranks were the same for all v6 apart from vn s1 and I think L67 were just balanced different otherwise same.
there were a number of balances for different external balancing, but only 2 possibly 3 types of triggers. VN to early VP were a smaller outer ring iirc and late VP to VY used one with a wider outer ring to accommodate the one piece moulded CAS. VN s1 might of used a different trigger again but i have a feeling it was the same as VN s2 to early VP style but different looks and balance.

Just a thought, is there any reason to not run NVRAM full time, or in other words are there any reliability issues with doing so?
Or should I get it right with NVRAM and then burn to a prom?
The only issue I can foresee is that NVRAM has a battery that fails with time?
any ideas on this?

The battery life is arpund 10 years I think. Even if you remove the nvram and put it in a cupboard the battery is still draining. I run mine in the ecu all the time.
