it wrote the bin file and it opened fine in universal patcher and then i made an xdf through it for tuner pro

Slow down, wipe the sweat away, there is no file validation, that is why you get the corrupt message, as the multiple message you have to wade through to get where you are, stating THIS IS BETA SOFTWARE USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Whether it's good or bad is something Universal Patcher will tell you, it's obviously good or you would likely know ...

I don't know why anyone would want that XDF, it is easily re-created!

I am not a Tuner, I do not know what else is out there that is free that will write the P04, free is most likely to be read!

Give us time we'll fix the P04, we are just volunteers and cannot work on it 24/7/365, even though we understand that is exactly what you want ... FOR FREE!

Thank you!

-Enjoy

I apologize, i'm new to all of this and seen your potential. You bring great hope and I know you're just helping. I'm in a rush since finding out that when i swapped my bcm out of the car...i swapped with an se instead of a gt.

I just found this out and now my brain is scrambling to find answers. I'm not sure if I should swap the chips in the bcm's that would fix my problem but Soldering small eeproms is is very difficult. I was then wondering if I could change my vin in old PCM to match with this newer BCM And then the car would start. Or will disabling vats fix anything. Im not even sure if the bin i got is any good. I have so much to learn and so frustrated. I was hoping someone could take a look at the bin and log file and make sure its golden before i brick it. I want the vats changed, and if that doesnt work the vin might,,and if all else fails the chip swap.

Pcmhammer will change the vin in the pcm fine, there is nothing specific to that so it works for all VPW protocol PCMs. Tunercat winflash + obdtuner + VDF definition can read and write bins but the catch is you cant buy it, and because its so sought after your chance of finding it for sale are nill. DHP can do it, but again its really really old and its no longer for sale. You'll be tearing your hair out trying to make it work in 2023 unless you are pretty much a computer historian. So, its not a practical option to find or use. HPTuners will do it I think, big initial investment and ongoing costs if you use it for multiple cars. PCMHammer will support P04 one day (probably), but not in the time frame you want. Your best option might be to talk to a tuning shop. We sink countless hours in to this software because its a fun technical challenge even if it gets painful when we are stuck up against a solid challenge and we cant see the solution then we give away our work. P04 is something we have started and stopped a few times, each time we edge closer, but we have not started the write component, and there are other challenges to solve first. (file format validation needs to be understood and implemented, we need a kernel chain loader, we need a good list of operating systems for P04, we might need to add flash chips to the database if there are ones that we have not implemented before, and we need the write kernel).

So this bin file I have from PCMhammer which looks fine in hptuner and in universal patcher can't be tuned and written? My bin file looks great it's just the validation part that didn't work. I can try to write the vin in there if I knew how. I do have a tech2win with this vcx nano and can get a acdelco subscription to might be able to change the vin? Idk...some of these vins are locked in and only way to change is to remove them and reprogram. Take a look at that bin file...I don't see anything wrong with it...and I suppose I'm willing to brick a PCM.

All right, looks like SOME progress is being made!
Good job to Gampy and others for doing this.

ALL 99-05 3400 engines in the N-Body (Alero, Grand AM, Malibu etc.) platform used the P04 PCM.

The BCM really doesn't care if the car is a GT or SE - what matters is the options that it supports, such as the steering wheel controls for the radio and keyless entry.

But the bcm still has an eeprom that is hardcoded to my pcm's vin. The car wont start if the chip hasn't been taken out and programmed to the old chip or hot swapped. My new bcm for my 2004 grand am has 2 remote fobs but my car was never setup for that. Anyone know if gm sps service can change the vin on a 2004?

As Antus stated, PcmHammer will change the VIN and with the PCM in the car ...

From the Tools menu, Select: Change VIN
Enter your new VIN, Select: Ok
If it accepts the new VIN, turn off the ignition leaving the battery hooked up for ~1 minute.
Turn ignition on, open PcmHammer and verify it changed by selecting the Read Properties button.
