For these E92a's you mention - do they say E92 or E92a on the label? If they say E92a on the label can you please PM me a pic of one for my records? So far I have not been able to find any and I am not clear if it is on the label and different from E92 or people just use E92 and E92a interchangeably for these PCMs.

It does not say E92A on the label. I dont use the terms interchangeably. As I understand it, the E92A is 17+ and has 5 byte securityantus wrote: Thu Oct 01, 2026 2:08 amFor these E92a's you mention - do they say E92 or E92a on the label? Thats good info. My first E92 is a 2018 and was 5 byte. So that works. And an 'a' prefix is something that would appear for a revision. Would be nice if they were fully consistant, But I'll take it. Thanks.

I think they added LIN to E92a as well. Even same designation has slight hardware changes between service numbers. Like E78 has an I4 version that depops the extra injector drivers, O2 drivers, and annoying a couple resistors for the extra Ignition outputs (really had to save that penny on those).

Re: looking for your shadow passwords (E84 and more)
Yeah the old codes back in the 90s even had revisions referred to with single letter suffixes. when they had minor OS changes. $11 code for example had a b and c revisions and different XDFs with an offset suddenly being applied at some address where the new param is. Then at some stage they started printing names like E38 on the labels, then by E39 they printed E39 and E39a on the label around early 2010s (nice for us), and then by E92 it seems they didn't put it on the label anymore but they must still be using the letter suffixes for incompatible revisions of the platform.
