Yes it is red, donated from alloytec on the shed floor. When I looked at the starter wires there is the big red battery lead + to battery the purple post wire and a black wire. Did i put the black wire the wrong spot on the starter?

going to hook back up and take photo of the stater motor :thumbup:

That's a brand new starter! The only spade on starter is the purple wire :think:

nope no extra spade connector. but you mentioned earlier "One from the key and another feeds the coil on start up" when testing power earlier the coil had power, alt and electronic choke I replaced on carby

How do we test the starter motor? maybe I stuffed it with my test light when it blew the test light wire off?

must be one strong test light globe it still works :thumbup:
