I am thinking how hard and legal is it to start manufacturing your own ethanol at home?
My understanding is that in Aussie you can't legally make your own alcohol/fuel without a license.

Here in NZ we can :D

It's not hard, and actually fairly cheap if you have access to a raw product to manufacture ethanol from. If I lived on a farm, I'd be running on an ethanol blend for sure.

Plenty of info online about it/how to do it.

got engine crane back but wont have time to shift onto stand till next week, so just dropped the bottom off cause i was itchin for a look, whats everyones thoughts? i couldnt' see any metal in the sump just a bit of goop, pickup looks clean, wiggling the rods could only wiggle enough to just make a noise, also is that a VS sump? thought the VT had the metal gaskets? The sumps cracked right on the inside edge of the T shape, it just looked like a casting mark but is a crack..

i don't think its spun a bearing, you can see the join in the bearing in the same spot as the cap joint! probably just the angle of the pic that makes it look like that, otherwise, don't look too bad inside, usual build up of varish but nothing to hardcore!

what you are looking at is actually the thrust area polished clean. It does look further away from the journal than is should be so check for movement. there should be none perpendicular to the journal only few thou of end float
