All I can say is those bungs aren't going to move any time soon, not without a blowtorch anyway.

Make sure the brackets are strong enough to hold the injectors in against a backfire.

Good point, I imagine fuel under pressure can pose a serious problem. EFI Hardware who made the custom fuel rail advised that at least three brackets were required for a straight six.

I made up this cardboard template of a fuel rail tie down bracket and obviously it will sit on top of the manifold elbow flange once it is made up. I reckon it should work ok and hold together under backfire if made from thick enough material. If any one has any comments or can see any potential problems with this it would be appreciated.

Just looking at it again after posting the pics it would be nice to install a couple of anchor points at each end however I am hoping that I can counteract this potential flexing point this by making the bracket thicker. I guess it would be easy enough weld a couple of steel anchor points to the cast manifold but haven't welded cast before. Does anyone know if you can weld steel to cast using argoshield and normal steel wire or do you need something special?

Also included a pic of how the ports turned out after installing the bungs. Cheers

Welding to the cast manifold is not so much about the material but the heat control. Unless its just for a proof of concept so you can start again with an alloy manifold I wouldn't bother as its 99% likely to crack at some stage. You can't make the bracket run the other way and attach to the studs/bolts that hold the manifold to the head?

I have been thinking about spark plug gaps and the fact that I am now using the Delco ignition. The JE Camira plug gap is 1.1 mm where valiant is 0.8. Can or should I increase the gap to 1.1 or is there more to it than that, like the type of plug. thanks.
