the most i can get the converter to without the front wheels sliding is about 1800rpm, then as the last orange light goes on i jam the pedal to the floor and it flashes to about 2600-2800 rpm.... and yes it is a brand new converter, heres hoping it does loosen up

i originally had cut springs in the car when i got it, i then fitted kings replacement ones after my first outing with slicks, that made the car sit nearly 1 inch higher and were also not as soft, but the diff still hits the floor, i then tried these spring rubbers i have 3 in each side now and its still hitting!!!

i'm beginning to think there is something in the geometry of the suspension that is winding it up as it launches!

well i've finally had some of the turbo parts start to arrive

so got the exhaust flange to use to make a turbo exhaust manifold. the holes are 1 3/4 inch so should be more than enough for what i need!

also got this thermostat housing spacer, this is not so much a turbo part but it was from the same ebay seller and it will make removing my tappet cover to adjust my tappets much easier! and for $15 how can you really argue!

they are from an ebay seller called sonic injection, they look really well made and are perfectly cut, very happy with them!

The spacer is similar to what I use, I made it out of 10mm alloy. Header plates look OK.

from the pics it looks like its squatting down more on the driver side too, either way its squatting

well i found the reason why the last two runs i had at WSID were lean in the top end, i thought the wiring to the fuel pump was the issue, but it turns out it was this filter which is between the tank and the lift pump!

as you can see there is a gauze in there somewhere! i don't really know what the build up is, its kinda powdery which is a methanol trait, but its sorta like pocket fluff looking!!

moral of the story, i guess is to check it a bit more often than approx 2 yrs

also removed one of the rear shocks from the car this arvo and i was able to push it to the ground easy as, so i dare say thats the main issue i'm having with the diff hitting the floor, so i'll try and get some new shocks for it this week and hopefully be happy days with alot less squatting!

that does kinda weird, normally methanol gels from what I have been told
Do you normally drain the left over methanol at the end of a meet and run some premium through it to flush the system out?

i've only heard of methanol geling in the oil ... but anythings possible i guess hahaha

and no i normally just leave the methanol in the fuel system all the time, no flush!

i'm only going off what my speedway mate told me about methanol cause hes really the only person i know with knowledge about it.

that said this is the first and only filter in the system straight from the tank with a 1/2 line so theres nothing stopping anything and everything from going through it!

I drain the methanol from my Torana but that's because of the SU carbs, but did find a similar looking stuff in the fuel filter, don't have any trouble with the Dato or the VP Commodore. We are using an additive in the methanol from these people https://www.americanoils.com.au/fuelfragrances.php
Haven't had any issues since using it. It might pay to block the fuel tank breather when the cars not being used, it will keep any moisture out, just don't forget to open it up.
You'll find that if you let that stuff dry it will go powdery.

yeah thats why i leave the methanol in the fuel system seems to be happy while theres fuel in there ... i had an efi fuel pump work fine for years with methanol then removed it to use on a test stand at my mates workshop, next day it was stuffed, tried running wd40 through it and it started working but only like 10psi and the sound of it was just not happy!! so i figure if i ever remove the methanol it will be flushed straight after with petrol and left in it with caps on the ends to stop this from happening.

i guess its just one of the down sides to running methanol, but then my seimens deka 80lb injectors when removed from the car (when i last rebuilt the motor) were in good condition and mnot rusted or anything and only slightly bulging seals so if thats all i have to do then im happy with that

i think the filter just comes down to neglect on my part
