yeah it wasnt the ultrasonics.... they detect movement not vibration. its the shock sensing units that get set off by exhausts. they generally have a knob on them to adjust sensitivity too. practically all alarms have shock sensors. ultrasonics to detect movement were generally an add on for the expensive alarms

I just wonder if removing them wont set off the alarm or will it? currently the system is disabled.

maybe I might try experimenting with it and see what happens.

The ultrasonics I have for my Mongoose alarm are a separate module, three or four pin plug that goes into the main alarm module. Should just be able to pull that plug, maybe disconnect power before doing so...

Mongoose's website has all the manuals for their alarms.

My laserline alarm kept false triggering from the ultrasonics, just unplugged the small module that connected to the alarm via a 3 or 4 wire interface and no more problems

Thanks!

got the unit mostly finished today. laser cut sensors brackets are on their way.

Dropped of my T5 to get an clean up and basic overhaul if required and some minor upgrades. That will be ready about mid week.

Thanks guys for the advise on the alarm, it was exactly as described. little box with 3 wires, and both ultrasonic sensors plugged to that. I unplugged and removed the unit, and just yanked the sensors out with the wiring, they were just tucked into place, so I was able to just pull its all out from 1 side of the dash to the other with no effort.

Good riddance!

Not long now! can't wait to crank it up!

Also going to use my roof lining I kept a side for the last VP project. Will do that over this week. Giggidy :driving:

picked up 2 VSS and 1 left remaining at this seller. All others have none in stock, VDO have stop making them few years ago but the stock has finally dried up.

So looks like I have picked up the 2nd last one !

Damn right!, I saw the price jump up on the new ones, shopped around to find that all stock was gone and the suppliers were all out. PEC (precision engine components) had 3 left, the guy said he cleaned out his supplier of the last lot.
