You need to make sure both valves on that cylinder are closed.
Like mentioned when it's on compression stroke, it will blow on your finger when its in the hole, other wise it won't like 'quipt4it said it works.

"it will blow on your finger when its in the hole"

I was wondering how to get the choke right, that mark on the choke will help I didn't know about that. I will do this all of this  also on first start do I start the engine let it idle till choke goes off then lift the RPM up to 2000 RMP?

This is not a bad clip to show some initial adjustments:
https://www.google.com/search?q=quadraj ... HGhKqgDQ15

Good video  the shop that rebuilt the carby had it all adjusted and run on their 308. He said my need to adjust idle  so I'll do this bit

"Loosen the three holding screws on the choke housing cover and rotate the cover (either left or right) until you have 2 or 3 mm clearance between the choke blade and the air horn opening"

since choke has been changed 8-)

oh also the back of the choke was different on the electric, I put the pin in the square hole?

My old one looked like this on the back.

my new choke had the square hole, so it's pushing from inside the square hole, should it be pushing from the front flat bit like old choke did?
