so that video above is with the exhaust manifold and turbo dump on, but theres no gasket or anything between the turbo and the manifold and there was plenty of condensation spitting out the side of the flange (you can see in the video i put my hand down and felt it at the start) so i'm assuming i'm loosing plenty of spool from that

but either way it seems to work alright!
so really now all i want to do is get the dump pipe down to under the car and to a flange then i'm done for that side of it other than a wastegate which i need to buy, but i need to save coin for casino drags at the end of the month so it will all wait till after that time i think.
anyways heres some pics of it all, plan will be to bash the strut tower to get enough clearance but fits ok, and i will be re-locating the fuel lines somewhere else away from heat!

just dont drive it with no cooler piping etc on it youll overspin the turbo and kill it

nah wont be any driving, that video is pretty much all i'd going to get, will start pulling it all apart once i finish a few more little things and put the car back to naturally aspirated while i save for the rest of the turbo!!

ok the turbo stuff is off the motor, did a mock up on the vice to get some pics of as my wife calls it the "mad max turbo"

i've also had an idea that might mean i'll be able to get the thing going with a few old bits to make a working motor and only need little more than the gasket set, it wont be as good as the head or cam thats in the gemini now but it will get me going with boost a bit quicker and i can then work on the good motor and more boost etc for later
first things first, i'll get the other engine pieces up on a stand and measure cc's and stuff and know if my theory is going to work!
also if it pops im not too worried

will be a good learning motor for tuning the boost.

ok so got this in the mail the other day

also pulled the head of my spare motor, to refresh my memory on whats what
so this motor used to be in my torana with the current head that is in the gemini now, and was rebuilt approx 40,000kms ago so its in pretty good condition and perfect for what i want as it has dished pistons which are currently .025 down the bore.

so i cc'ed the head the other night and it has a 50cc chamber in it that along with the motor currently will be near on 8.5:1 compression.

this head is an ebay special i got years ago

... its not that flash but its got a reasonable port job and has screw in studs along with vn v6 commodore rockers on it, which gives me a 1.65 rocker ratio and makes the cam a bit bigger
SOOOOO being that i am running methanol and can have 10:1 compression my plan is to deck the head to make sure its flat and take another fraction off it to get it to about 45cc's and then deck the block to get zero deck height on the pistons and then that should put me at about 9.5:1 compression and i'll be happy with that for the time being!!!!!
the cam in it is a reasonably small hydraulic streeter cam which comes on about 1600rpm and runs out of puff at 5000rpm.
i can get the machining work done dirt cheap from my mate, and then will just be gasket kit etc and she'll be ready to go.
once its in and running i can then pull down the current gemini motor and go to town on it for a more serious turbo motor!

Should really wake it up mate. Interesting set of pipes - half log/half untuned length header - theory behind it or space constrictions? I'd be reluctant to shave the block much, plenty of squish is all good on a n/a motor but turbos have a habit of shitting pistons with it - possibly why the VN~VR motors hold up better boosted then the emotec's

yeah pipes are the best i could do in the small space provided!!
i'm not too worried about this motor as its only going to be a quick throw together to get me going while i build the good one!
