yeah i thought that was a good comment from the brother / commentator :P and yeah i was waiting for someone to call the fire brigade :driving:

so onto the dyno .........................

few issues, was missing pretty bad, so we changed the new plugs with 1mm gap for the old ones with .5mm gap and went for another run, i replaced the plugs originally cause i thought one of the old ones was missing a bit ... anyways it did sound like it was still missing but managed to reel off 289hp at the wheels on 15psi.

i'm not sure when it happened but Glen said it seems to take ages to build boost and when i got it back in the shed its breathing out the screamer pipe, so took the wastegate off and found a bit of welding slag on the seat of the gate so that explains why it wasn't boosting when it should ... i dunno how that effects over all horsepowers ? anyways got that fixed up and now its sealing properly again.

so in this video the start is with the new plugs with 1mm gaps and i couldn't get it to 100% throttle ever without it carrying on and such, few good backfires too so then we changed the plugs and thats when the camera zooms in for those runs ... it sounded way worse after that and when i was driving it onto the trailer sounded like 5 cylinders ... anyways ignition system all worked perfectly too!

also got this one off my brothers phone, its heaps distorted but can hear it better that its missing i reckon ...

and for those interested here is a link to the last run i did which was 289hp.

Last Dyno Log

BPSI = Boost PSI
TPS = Throttle Position
MAT = Manifold Air Temp
CTS = Engine Coolant
KPA = MAP Sensor
ADV = Spark Advance
IDC = Injector Duty Cycle
TAF = Target AFR
AWB = Wideband AFR

is that 115% DC LOL.yeah you have to watch out for welding slag 1 small ball can just demolish a turbine wheel.289hp should get it down the track well :D.the wastegate having shit on the seat wont change HP as the gate will be pretty hard open at 15psi

yeah im wondering if the calculation for the injector DC is maybe out a bit :P

i was sure i was pretty careful at removing all the dags and such in the manifolds as i went to stop that sort of thing from happening, guess not :|

got dyno graphs.i would of thought you would of made another 100hp on that at 15psi.a hotter plug may be in order if its still missing a bit too did you do any plug reads while you were there

well considering it was running on 5 to 5.5 cylinders i think its pretty good power hahahah and no didn't both with a print out. will get stuff sorted and running more smooth then i'll go back.

the plugs are ngk 8 heat range, no missing after the plug gap was closed up anyways so it should be right!

only real reading of plugs was when we pulled the new ones(new before the dyno and burnout in the shed :)), they were pretty clean other than some darker tinge on the earth strap.

i think even with methanol i need a cooler though, inlet temps get pretty high!

oh and i will have to work on motor with turbo cam and my other good head :)

Good numbers, plug gaps are closed up, you need to pull a plug after a full noise pass or on the dyno to check the earth strap on the plugs. I use 6 or 7 heat range with NGK on methanol & 7 or 8 with petrol, depends what the particular engine needs.

yeah the motor is what i used to have in the torana with dished ACL pistons, and a 1500-5000rpm cam, like 260-270 degrees total duration :P and the head on the motor is just a half decent one i have had for ages, my good head and cam is still in the N/A motor i pulled out. it had like 13.5 comp so too much work to de-compress it, so i am planning new bottom end to get the compresison right for that head and a good hydraulic boost cam similar specs to whats in the n/a motor now (its solid lifter) and some ARP bits and see how that goes :) that motor in it cost me about $300 to put together :P

So what are you saying v6bucket ? should have bigger gap ? yeah i have NGK 8's in it (R5724-8) isn't 6 the standard heat range ?

a bigger gap will make more power from a better burn im still running stock heat range plugs at 0.9mm with 17psi no missing but as soon as i fit a heat range colder plug it starts bucking and farting and missing a lot under load
