The right converter will definitely help it get of the line.

before i worry about the right converter i think i need to work on keeping the gasses inside the cylinder :P

this is currently how the car is sitting, as a result of finding green coolant on cylinder 3 spark plug!

it appears alot of cylinders have let go!

so need to sort out a few issues here ....

thinking o-rings and copper gasket, also arp head studs!

i also found some very minor marks in the bore where the edge of the valves have hit it so will be stripping the bottom end and giving it a bit of a die grind!

just get stainless steel embossed multilayer gaskets. unblowable and leak proof.

I know coz I used that type of gasket to permanently solve blowing gasket issue on several ford I had done before. All have been 100% problem free after installing them.

Is it detonation that's pushed the gasket?
Is that a knock sensor near the starter? Is it in operation or just plugging the hole?

MLS gasket would be good but very expensive, "O" rings & copper gasket will work.

yeah it is a knock sensor and no its not connected, tried it just to see, pretty much anything above idle and the motor would make knock on the logs so shit canned that idea :)

as for detonation i am not sure, possibly, going to take it all to my mates workshop for him to take a look at and give his professional opinion!

i agree the MLS is damn expensive!

it does run a lot of timing from what ive seen of the logs probably huge cylinder pressures

Methanol does need a lot more timing coz it burns slowly though

yeah lots to think about, also more bang from methanol so more cylinder pressures!

an MLS for s 202 is $315 + gst + freight last i asked!!

so got the bottom end out of the car tonight and stirpped .... cam is very borderline and im thinking i should probably replace it, otherwise everything else looks good, bores are fine, rods are straight and bearings look mint.

will have to get some prices and decide from there.

acl race gaskets do say on the pack not suitiable for boost.i put some in a turbo 304 they lasted 5 minutes.my guess is the large backfire and the gaskets are the same issue weather its had a very hot exhaust wheel in the turbo or a glowing red hot plug and it actually preignited not pinged and just blow the gasket
