Re: My Delcoed Rides
yeah it was a fairly cronic backfire and i had wondered how much it contributed.
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: My Delcoed Rides
well a decision has been made and this will hopefully be in the post early next week!
also got some prices for the other parts i need but will hold off on them for a bit till i know i have the cash ready for it all!
i actually had a a very similar one to this but it was solid cam, this time i've gone for the hydraulic with anti pump lifters and as i am running vn commodore rockers (1.65) will actually make the lift slightly more than my other one was.

Re: My Delcoed Rides
i got bits today
will need retainers to fit the double springs (one in the pic i got to test), plus also need to machine the inner part of the valve boss so the inner spring will go over it but i can do that at my mates workshop no stress!

Re: My Delcoed Rides
got bits
nothing stopping me from putting the bottom end together this sunday!!
so took the head down to my mates workshop tonight, its all stripped and in the acid, got a few service jobs to do on it once its clean, then need to machine the valve seat area to fit the double springs then she can go back together!
so if im lucky, towards the end of next week i might be almost ready to put the motor back in if all goes well!
also, mate gave me these for my birthday
front one will be fine, but i need to work out the read one, because i have my battery isolator in the number plate location!

Re: My Delcoed Rides
well bit of a blow to the progress tonight
found a crack in the last seat to be cut!
so we started to cut the head for a hardened insert and the crack just kept going and going and eventually we got to here
so that was the end of that head! not prepared to put the insert in and hope it works, maybe if it was a cheap motor with light springs, but not for this one ... so the head is going in the bin!
its a real bummer because the head had a good port job and screw in studs and big valves etc, but that's life I guess.
so I raced home and picked up a bog stock vk efi head I had which I have had sitting on the shelf for years (finally my hoarding has paid off) its only ever been light skimmed, and normal service for a reco head and put back together, and was run in the car for a few hours. so its going to get the full treatment tomorrow night, big valves, machine the rocker pads for screw in studs and port it out, then a skim to raise the comp a bit more for what I need.
so tonight I fully stripped it and cut the new valve spring seats to accept the double springs, and its now in the acid ready for tomorrow!!
