nah, thats what the VP is for.

I'll cut straight to the chase with ecotec in that one.

A mild build consisting of: iirc

ported heads, larger SS valves.
Preped and shot peened stock crank
L67 rods
custom Diamond forged 10:1 piston
Custom cam to suit
drilled oil galleries
Machine timing cover oil galleries
Machined rear seal housing oil galleries
Modified valley to add oil dripper holes for cam
wishbone linkstyle roller lifters
ARP everything
their own timing set
ross bond balancer
Ballanced

etc etc blah blah

sicsix quoted a mild ecotec 200 or so rwkw, one of their most basic combos anyway.

Same exhaust as the VR but twin cat

Then Trutrac Eaton LSD

PPG straight cut 1-4 gear set designed for V6 T5

Koni shocks

K-mac adjustable tops, mmmmm caster

K-mac 30mm front bar

holden 20mm rear bar

superpro all round except nolthane front bar links

The standard FE2 springs that are already there

VT front calipers

Braided hoses

DBA T2 disks with A1RM all round.

I just want to keep the VR more less stock.

good to see you fixed the false knock being picked up as you added fuel it would of started banging harder making more noise for the sensor to pick up.bet it goes harder now its not pulling any timing and has a heap more in it LOL.

and the engine build the worst thing about drilled galleries is finding a high volume pump to keep them full.ive never seen a buick version with any oiling issues pull a 300000km v6 down and pull down a 304 the v6 will still be on white metal on the bearings a 304 is allready got one half of the bearings on copper LOL.ive seen one v6 running moreys oil stabilizer turn the bearings black from heat was turning to treacle when the oil got hot showed good pressure but there wasnt enough flow for cooling bearings looked fine just hot no wear but the cam bearings only did 1000km and were on copper.seen a few v6's with cam bearing issues you cant get the cam out the hole cause the bearing falls out the hole and gets stuck round the lobes all the shit from the bearing spinning in the casting goes straight to the bigend below and they piggyback one another and the engine locks solid.quite often the car was running fine them stalled coming to a stop and you cant even crank them to restart.terafi the twin turbo v6 ecotec is still on undrilled oil galleries and can go 9.21 on the 1/4 they had oil pressure issues at rpm further down the strip was emptying the sump and they fitted an oil accumulator to keep oil flowing at the end of a pass.

yeah I know what you mean about the oil galleries, too big and flow is an issue at low rpm. but ecotec only get them drilled from the main bearings, past the cam into the main galleries at 8mm. Stock is 6mm.

its to fix the misaligned core some blocks get which places the galleries where they get blocked by the cam bearing, causing massive starvation.

Thats why so many ecotecs die from spun bearing. Its an issue that need to be fixed to make them reliable.
As for buick, they are pretty good oil wise. They still have this problem sometimes though, but far less than ecotec.

I have noticed the later VX and VY engines seem to have this issue resolved? Not seen anyone kill a VY engine yeah, neither VX.
Every VS and heaps of VT died though

As for timing the VR, what curve you reckon I should go at in the 90,95 and 100kpa columns? Keeping in mind its VR with 9:1 not 8.5 like vn and vp

I just made up a curve at a guess its a tad more than stock, but lot less than what you suggested in the other post.

Oh it goes harder, but slower on takeoff as it just wheel spins, my 0-100 times gone up heaps but what you expect for 4 sec wasted wheel spinning. I have to learn how to do a good launch. I did use 65-90Km/h times as its consistent data with little other variable in there and its 0.2 sec quicker there.

I bet my VP run around car will show you first buick with oiling problems, damn thing rattles a lot and lifters clatter all the time at low rpm, does not hold oil pressure after shut down unlike all my other cars. I bet its bearings are rooted :D also has bugger all compression and gutless, I abused the absolute shit out of it to get it to that point. I got a 400k engine that runs like a dream to drop in later and I can post an autopsy of the rattla.

9 degrees at 800 27/28 at 4800 you end up having to trim it down to be streetable or you cant pull into traffic in the rain at all LOL

so do I just straight line in from those values or more of a curve shape?
Streetable is sideways imho

unstreetable is grany spec lol

have a mace CAI on its way.

With the bigger TB, is there anything i should consider in the tune? I recall something like TPS throttle gain?

Have fitted the larger TB, just need to modify a cruise control bracket to clearnt he actuator. The way the v8 one is case means I cant fit a v6 actuator on it.

just a minor inconvenience really.

The results showed that there was a slight improvement in air flow but majority restriction still exists so its certainly the air intake. Should get my mace CAI soon to fix that.

Few more logs playing with the ignition as delco suggested I still found the timing less than what I set, I see I forgot to clear the 98ºC row in the spark advance vs coolant term (subtraction term)

Kinda stupid to have the timing retarded when thats the normal operating temps
Anyway, got what I wanted there and it does go better. best time now is 8.58 sec 0-100.

oh yeah and bigger TB has helps heaps with drivability. :driving:

here is the modded bracket anyway.

I ground that by hand, looks like it was machined on a mill. :D

Looks neat!

Have you done a run without the air intake attached to the throttle body?
