Getting to use more features on the New ALDL Logger V2. Really love this device.

Couple of questions.

1) Whats the largest SD card we can use in V2. Its getting more difficult to buy 1 GB cards these days.

2) When I "GETCAL" its always a 32k bin. I tried changing the "Result to test for bin size" from 8000 to 1AFF but it still ends up as 32k bin.

Most cards work fine, I have used all sorts up to 32GB without a problem (when you get to the staging lanes and the SD card is still in the laptop, the gopro card becomes a good option!). The limitation is some SD cards drop support for SPI file transfer, this is the method the logger uses. If it wont read the card then this is likely the problem.

This change was made to bring the logger in line with how TunerPro and flashtool 1.47 and later works, on 12P its not a problem but on other bins where the cal is not the first thing it is. The XDF offset changes depending on if you read a file of just the cal or the whole bin. The solution was to always produce a bin size file, with the cal in the correct memory location, and just pad out the bytes with zeros where code would normally be to speed up the read process. Only one XDF was needed then. To have the logger save just cal size files will need a small change to the firmware. Will add the option for the next release.

Has anyone mounted their logger inside the car?

I did with Logger V1 which I since sold to my brother and he uses the same mount.... was just a bit of flat bar off the back of the unit and screwed to the dash panel in my race car, so wasn't exactly pretty but worked!

I haven't tried to mount the V2 in the car yet, but I have VL400's ignition module in the same type of box which is mounted, so it wouldn't be hard, I just use it in too many places at the moment to mount it!

yeah I agree, I have wired mine to have a switched power supply so I don't loose logs if I turn the car off and forget!

yeah its a real pain when you have an issue i.e like you think you've lost oil pressure and want to quickly shutdown the motor and not loose the log!

and its always the important logs that you REALLY WANT that are the ones you loose!
