Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
I'm back! Lol. Just a quick one. Where does manifold air temp top out on an 808? I'm guessing 148.3! Also, what does the charge temp reading refer to?
Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
Charge temp refers to the CALCULATED air temp going into the combustion chamber.
There is a couple of offsets that influence this.

Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
Manifold air temp screams up to 148.3, and the stops, so I'm pretty sure it's the limit of what can be measured. Any insight into how the charge temp is calculated? Thinking I'm seriously going to need an intercooler.

yes with a very inefficient sc14, i'd say so lol.

Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
yeah im not surprised, they work pretty hard with a smaller pulley!
the charge temp is the MAT and CTS calc I believe, theres probably other offsets too ....
put it this way, in my turbo 202 over the 1/4 mile I don't see any higher than 110-120 degrees ..... so if your seeing higher then I wouldn't worry about how it calculated just how to fix it
hehe
that said the thing I would most like to be able to measure is the difference made to the charge temp after the injectors spray into it because I know methanol cools it a lot, and E85 will also do to a lesser extent!

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
I seen those centrifugal chargers have even lower MAT readings, less than 100c somewhere around 70-90 iirc.
They are very efficient chargers though, about 70-80%.

Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
im not sure on the efficiency of these SC14's, but im pretty sure they were originally put on 1.6ltr motors or something .... asking a lot from a 3.8

Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
well its a roots blower, they naturally not very efficient at higher boost, iirc the sc14 are parallel lobs unlike the helical of the eaton chargers. straight lobs make them even less efficient iirc.
according to wiki, roots charger is about 50% efficient at 1 bar

Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
I'm thinking of going wta. The other thing that needs some consideration is cooling of the blower oil. At the moment it's getting so hot that it looses viscosity. Anyone hay experience with redline gear oil? Holds its viscosity to 150 c odd according to their specs. Also looking at a scoop to blow fresh air onto the blower housing. Any other ideas?
