its always been borderline in the staging lanes in summer, but it was worse on E85. i think the bigger converter didn'thelp either, more revs going nowhere. its had a standard 2 core torana 6 radiator in it though so always been asking alot from it!

yeah e85 seems to burn hotter than meth i think its the oxygen content.it also skips knock all together and goes straight to preignition.ide be interested to see egt comparisons between the runs on the 2 different fuels

well im not sure how accurate it is, I have it in the turbo manifold about 1 inch from the turbo flange (after all the ports join into the log) but this is what I have.

on the only log I managed to not fuck up on E85, it maxed at 780 EGT and on my last outing on methanol it got no higher than 770 EGT.

the difference is the methanol run climbed from 400 EGT at the start and it didn't actually get to the 770 point till after I crossed the finish line about 1 sec after I backed off, however the E85 run started at 500 EGT and hit 780 about halfway through the run, then stayed there till the end..... the difference I believe for the extra heat at the start was probably due to 2800rpm staging on the converter with E85 but only 1900rpm on the old converter when I was on methanol.

I think you'll find that the engine will run cooler on methanol because of the shear volume of fuel is able to absorb some heat.
Ebay radiator? Looks the same as the one that arrived in the mail on Monday for the Torana.

yeah i agree, but even on methanol the radiator has been border line, especially on the dyno, one or two power runs and its near on 100!

and yeah Ebay from Kingswoodcountry seller, great to deal with!

Since I fitted the big balancer to the engine, I had to remove the engine fan & fit an electric one, but due to space I can't fit a fan bigger than 12" in front of the radiator, so mine now runs warmer than it used to, especially in the staging lanes in Sydney.

so I got the motor back in and all connected up, ran it up to check coolant and such, everything perfect, then turn it off and let it sit for 15 minutes and theres coolant under the motor! :|

so ran it back up to temp and started checking it over with the torch, once turned off I could hear coolant sizzling ... turns out it was coming out one of the head stud threads, so I thought i'd check the torque of that stud, and it never got to the torque specified on the wrench before pulling the thread out of the block!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so that's the end of it .... no Gunnedah drags in 2 weeks time

well there will be just not this car :P
