265 Hemi to efi
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Typical Chrysler/Dodge wiring, all one colour. I had to fix a wiring problem on a Dodge truck about 10 years ago when I was working at an auto electrician shop, all the wiring was yellow and that is how it came from the factory.
Get yourself one of those aftermarket looms that have modern fuse blocks and colour coded wiring, you'll thank yourself in the future when you need to find a short or something.

The big alternator battery charge wire was part of that schamozzle but I bypassed that and ran a new seperate wire as part of my first wiring upgrade soon after I bought it. I also bypassed the ammeter in the cabin and crimped and soldered the factory bullet connectors that feed power to the cabin. After doing that my wipers worked at full speed.
Yeah, dangerous. I have now run new wires and connectors to the oil pressure switch, head temp sender, tacho wire, and alternator switched 12v wire.Holden202T wrote:
and yeah whoever did that wiring should be shot!

The wiring colours ok, that's the moron who fixed the damaged loom all using yellow wire and cheap crimps.MAGP wrote:Typical Chrysler/Dodge wiring, all one colour. But yes you are right the dodge/Chrysler factory wiring is pretty average, especially after 40 years or so.

Got it running on fuel now. Its running a little rough because the plugs are fouled but still pretty happy with how its idling. Its only running on a 5lt fuel container at the moment so next step is to get it running on the existing tank and hook up the throttle cable.

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

It was just a slight misfire now and then, but when I pulled a plug it was black which would have been from when it was running on the carby. From how black the plug was it is amazing it was running as well as it was.
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Got more problems today, it starts but wont run more than about 5 seconds now. Stuffed if I know it was running fine this morning, all I have done is cleaned the plugs and hooked up the wideband. I checked for loose wires that might have been pulled when I was cleaning the plugs but couldn't find any. I am wondering if it is a fuel problem. I can here the fuel pump prime and obviously it gets enough fuel to run for a few seconds but that's it. I have attached the bin file and an xdl file from its attempt to start. If anybody could be so kind as checking the xdl to see if they can see any obvious problems it would be appreciated. Unfortunately there is not much data to go off.
On a positive note I was able to create a custom throttle setup from the original valiant throttle cable, spring and some scrap steel lying around. I was pretty happy being able to do that with a massive hangover from last nights work Christmas show. The afternoon sucked though.
Cheers

Refresh my old memory. Are you using 12P?
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Yes that is correct. Thanks
Re: 265 Hemi to efi
I'm going to disconnect the wideband tomorrow and see if it makes a difference. It's the only thing major change since this morning
