Re: My Delcoed Rides
ran out to the shed, ripped the tyre off and got a pic of the front....
so i probably shouldn't have had the last run, there was like a fibre of canvas sticking out of my left rear, i figured it would be enough for one more run ... in hind sight i should have trailered it then! anyways, such is life, so i also had a look at the track afterwards, there is a nice powerskid mark that was solid rubber, then went to patchy rubber marks on the road and that was just as it went out on me!
after looking at the tyre i am not surprised hehehehe
sorry dodgy photo, and very muddy hahaha .... so the valance panel is suitable stuffed, i straightened it out a bit since the crash, also the tow hook was bent up but i straightened that up to get home!
also you can see there is a nice dint in the front support between the chassis rails, luckily it hasn't ploughed into my nice new alloy radiator and the oil cooler is not damaged either!
i have to get it up on stands, it appears to have a nice exhaust leak since the crash, and there was ALOT of mud on the wastegate (it is the blue part just above the sway bar on the right in this pic above), so possibly cracked a weld or something, anyways, very lucky outcome considering

Re: My Delcoed Rides
looks like you held it too long despite things going pear shape. doesn't help to recover with broken tyres though
looking at the other videos, too much power for its handling lol, handling could be a heap better

Re: My Delcoed Rides
yeah but it was like it was every other run then just let go! shit happens.
and yeah your dead right way too much power for the track ... definitely a 5000rpm stall converter doesn't help with power application either, it was very on and off ... hard to find a spot where it applied enough drive without spinning
, but then its a drag car with simply some road tyres put on it so I was never expecting it to be like a v8 supercar or anything!
either way it was great fun

Re: My Delcoed Rides
yeah, hardly a track car when its meant for drag racing.
in the video I see when you didn't back off given the signs it was letting go until too late. It is different to the other videos where everything is ok.
from what I can see you backed off about 300ms too late. I don't blame ya considering the car setup and how you mostly drive it

Re: My Delcoed Rides
Man, no kidding about the car setup for the track
Totally understand though with that much power only coming on at nearly 5000 RPM. It certainly looks like a lot of fun, though. Have you considered taking it to a drift meet?
Good thing the damage was only minor and didnt do anything major. It looks like they had the couple of loose tyres in the right spot to soften the landing.

Re: My Delcoed Rides
similar to the drags, theres not a lot around here for drifting either! but that said, its not really my thing either ...
and yeah your right about the tyres, if I had have lost it half a meter earlier I would have cleaned up a large rock and timing beacon those tyres were covering!
