I had a loose alarm unit bracket in the VR. Took that out and painted it, while I was looking at the unit I noticed the enable switch key thing was loose so I opened it and found the unit to be cactass. All the tracks were disintegrated from moisture at some stage. Had a look on the mongoose site for a replacement unit since there is holes in the inner guard drilled for it, so might as well put a working one back in.

No luck but to my amazement you can still buy new remotes for VN and VP. They have been NLA everywhere else including Holden for more than 10 year, 15 even.

Might email them to see if they know what my alarm is and if they have a new under bonnet unit. Other wise I will just leave it out.

here is the part number for those who might want one next time. Not cheap, 150 just for the bearing, over double the plastic one.

yeah it will last more than twice I reckon.

As for the clutch pressure plate, AU one has good clamping force and not too heavy compared to the V8 ones on offer for Holden.

AU makes lots of torque, much more than the standard V6, AU makes about 370-380Nm. My engine should fall close to that range.

This was a recommendation by Jim Berry at race clutch.

Nice carrier, you should never have to replace that again, just change the bearing on the end of it

So I ordered from Holden a set of VR rocker pedestals, the ball bearing type. A CAS and a pulley bolt for the balancer.

Got some good quality O rings for the PCV valve and oil pickup tube/heater coolant tube from CBC bearings. The O ring size is the same for those 2 items.

Will order some stuff from ZZP soonish as well as a GM parts outlet in the US.

Geez those rollmaster kits are cheap over there, only 85 buck vs 165 on average here. Makes total sense since these are made in Australia :wtf:

total for what? the whole engine or the parts I ordered?

The pedestals I got at 20 each. pretty cheap considering they sell over 34 each in the USA if you can find them.

So 240 for the pedestals and CAS was 70 and bolt 30 something.
