I know you can delcowizid...thats why your tunes are considered gold in performance forums. ...the powerchip doesn't take into consideration the age and general condition of the engine....a motoring body explained it to me as "a performance chip more suited to a newer engine or at least a reconditioned one. The exclusive use of high octane fuels is to allow a greater spark advance while avoiding engine "knock" (pinging sound). While advantageous in some respects, the use of this chip in older engines may only serve to "overwork" them, increasing overall load and possibly shortening engine life"...ie leave it alone..a good tune will be of more use...also found this review

most of the tunes i do are on old worn shittas brings them back to there prior glory my wagons done nearly 500000km and i slapped a turbo onto it for shits and giggles never under estimate the humble v6

haha...don't underestimate yourself...those cars fly..I've seen the vids I agree about not underestimating the ecotec v6, they are very capable and robust engines and personally I like the iron head and single camshaft with pushrods...less to go wrong!!...really found it annoying when on other forums my engine was described as gay or needed replacement the members on this board are professional and courteous ...pleasant change...some may have thought differently but at least didn't write it LOL ...thats why I like this forum!!!

Pat (mechanic) tunes with "carmine"..a large book sized box with an LCD screen and several buttons...can't keep up with what hes doing as he is very quick but the car runs well....would just like to tweak a few items when I am confident (and cluey) enoungh to do it...

Any vids of your wagon??...sounds good. Turbocharging a 500000km wagon only proves how strong these engines really are..I want mine to go around te clock a few times...never selling it if I don't have, its part of the family now and has history...all good at that!!

Still going through Holden202's bin, up to BLM (explained in detail in previous post on this thread)...it looks pretty good to me...like the change to shift para's..I remember Dec_heads comment on changing these to suit your preferences..and any change to allow for a cooler engine is good!!...they always seem to run so hot...also put picturess of my wifes EK (not EJ or EH at first thought) up..the other cars belonged to family members..all Holden fanatics..

I was more interested in the actual difference high octane alone makes without a tune.
i was thinking half the power they claim is more likely fuel related.

I don't know that a holden v8 is worth the time it takes to fit the junk lol they would make a good boat anchor.

haha..uh no...tellng me to remove the V6 would not a good idea ...

I did have an email with dyno results of different fuels but can't locate it at the moment...from memory...the difference in fuels in a V6 was not that great ...but...having said that, I will agree with you that the use of high octane fuel by powerchip certainly doesn't hurt....the chip really isn't worth the money, sorry I can't be of more assistance, I unfortunately turfed all the info when I realised the "performance" was due to copious amounts of high octane fuel being pumped through the system and not much else....I'll keep looking in the meantime glad to see I'm not the only one to think the V6 is more than capable...I like V8's but I wouldn't change an engine for one...ps how did you go with that fuel indicator issue you had a few posts ago?? I am curious to know what happened as the berlina's fuel usage shows 15lpg but still manages close to 450km on a tank city cycle....bigger tank but still not bad.....

(Vids viewed)....nice...very nice infact!! the VB certainly does pack a punch and would probably be lighter than the wagon...wagons tend to be heavy down the strip..also saw the driveby and other wellington boys vids...nice pick-up on the wagon and the turbo can be heard quite clearly... and thats just for fun??....can only imagine what you would build if serious ..... good work on the wagon...looks and sounds terrific!!

After viewing jaymes car, Holden202 gemini and your cars I am getting jealous!! ..why doesn't my car do that?? .LOL....

Love that NZ scenery...always beautiful, green and lush, and the masterton strip has a great setting...decomissioned runway??..best of both worlds, great cars and great setting!! ....all looks good..

seem to indicate the fuel alone may not make a big difference but with a decent tune more is possible....hope this is more on track.

Yeah i guess the fuel grade versus power figure can vary depending on the individual engine and the factory tune.
like a few have stated carbon deposits timing advance and i am guessing other factors like air temp all play major roles.
I still haven't changed the litres per 100klm setting. mine reads quite low but could also be due to a number of factors.
My engine compression is higher wich mean't lower ve values and i figure would give better economy.
my mixture cruising is around 14.7 on the wideband and my injectorflow rate was changed to suit different injectors.
Change in cam and inlet who knows what is out of whack more confusion

Know the feeling well Dec_head.....just an update to say I am currently comparing bins, Holden202 and the byp? (I'm not on my computer at the moment hence the ?) that was listed on delcowizds posts....its the same type from the pics sent by Holden202 shown in earlier posts ( I think anyway..the last letter is not easy to read, could be a p or r??)...cross referencing with Dr Bobs Site, it is an early production 2 wire o2 sensor setup.....that is really helpful because it also means that adr 37/00 applies so emissions weren't as strict...(does this also mean that if I burn a memcal I can send it to Holden202 who can put in the torana and let me know if the car still works.. haha)..not likely for some time yet...I went to local wreckers searching for memcals only to find they sell the entire package for around $75 - $120...have to keep looking and the meantime replace some worn engine parts!!!.....
