Re: My Delcoed Rides
You can use the normal 16 pin interface or just have a DB9 wired in that the logger plugs in to. The ECU and ign module can sit on the ALDL bus.

Re: My Delcoed Rides
yeah i think the DB9 will be more robust for race duties, screw in connectors and such!
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: My Delcoed Rides
well I finally got a chance to get stuck into the motor to see if I could work out some of the issues ....
it appears the head gasket is still like new, no signs of weeping or anything so all happy there!
I did however after removing the head find out that the knock was there when I moved the crank back and forth! .... so I was like hmm, hopefully its not my converter, so I disconnected that only to find that the crank flywheel bolts are all loose .... either loose or flogged out, either way that would explain the knock only being there when cranking!
so at this stage the plan is to pull the motor out and strip it, if I don't find any issues, and the crank is not fucked then I will be putting it back together and probably with a new flex plate hehe! im wondering if the miss is ignition related, anyways time will tell.

Re: My Delcoed Rides
haha typical 202 engine harmonics rattle the crank bolts undone they have done that for years if you hold them at the harmonic rpm too long.i had heard 12 port version crank didnt do it as bad as the harmonic rpm is different

yeah they are suppposed to be pretty good the blue/black cranks, but who knows, its never happened before so maybe it just in need of new bolts and such!

Re: My Delcoed Rides
been a long time since I touched a Holden straight 6, but the ford straight 6 have lots of harsh harmonics.
So I was told the straight 6 is suppose to be perfect balance, they probably do but harmonics are more than evident.

either that or just asking too much of the stock parts hehehe!

Re: My Delcoed Rides
I remember my local mechanic telling me about one of his friends has a race datsun that has a harmonic around 6k which blows the engine up if held there, no problem revving past it to 8k.
there is a good F! doco from the 80s how ford were trying to develop a F1 turbo 4cyl and its kept blowing up on the dyno due to harmonics even with top of the line internal parts of the day. they scrapped the idea and developed a v6 instead because it had less harmonic issues lol

Re: My Delcoed Rides
nah its harmonics for sure LOL.it gets worse the more power per hole.ide be interested at how much the TC and flexplate weigh didnt the counterweighted crank come with 10.5kg flywheel if its much less than that ide be looking to add weight back into the rear

Re: My Delcoed Rides
you got a point there, too light of a flywheel/flex plate setup the crank snatches from every power stroke as there is not enough inertia to smooth the power pulses.
