no unfortunately, burnt only part of chip but suspect that chip might be dud. was sample that came with burner and already had a couple of bits set. might have been my fault while trying to get the interface to the laptop working as had chip in burner at times for blank check test. thought that if verified ok then set bits could be ignored or at least gave me a chance to practice a burn, nothing to loose. funny though verify sometimes says all ok, even though I know by actually comparing loaded bin and chip read in the buffer that part of chip not burnt.
now waiting to 27SF512 to arrive.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
when the 27SF512 arrives just burn the 16k bin straight to it with an offset of C000. depending on your burner, there might be some tricks to getting it to erase too. for me, I have to jump 2 pins together manually with a bit of wire to erase it.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
So far so good. used offset as recommended by Jayme and successfully loaded 16k bin at address C000. followed delcowizzid advice and made KDIARPM 0.0 in a renamed sv3800 bin. now to fit into 808 and try. already had winaldl logging if only in the garage but proves it works.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
ok have run engine with sv3800 bin and it starts but idle is rougher than standard and when revved stalls on decceleration. winaldl requies 10k resistor between ground and diagnostic terminal to get data. winaldl indicates raw & sensopr and ALDL flagged, EST flagged intermittently until rpm>1500, A/C fan requested (A/C was OFF), trans over temp flagged. operated A/C clutch, Fan relay & A/C request all flagged. reverted to standard bin and same data and flags pressent although idle smoother and no stalling. open for comments, particularly why sv3800 bin result so poor. does 10k resistor set a mode that could cause these issues.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
did you disconnect the battery install memcal then rev car to above 2000 on the first start to reset the iac sometimes the first rev or 2 after install you will get a stall but it should stop doing it.you been for a drive yet ide be keen on a look at a winaldl log.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
did not disconnect battery, simply unplugged original ecu and plugged in my spare ecu loaded with new bin. did not run above 2000 rpm to reset iac, forgot to. have not done test drive yet, first try tomorrow. concurned that sv3800 idle is so rough. idle was better after I swapped back to standard bin even though I again forgot to reset iac.
curious as to why I get intermittent EST mode. thought ecu would take over timing once engine has started (rpm>450) and EST mode would be ON continually, not wait until rpm > 1500. also trans overtemp flagged seems odd immediately after start-up.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
i dunno what the difference in idle timing is but thats probably whats making it idle rougher or maybe you do have a series 2 engine with s1 manifold or something silly.trans temp flag will be on saying the switch is working ide say its most likely off when its too hot dunno winaldl can give all sorts of funny readings.as long as the chip is the correct speed and the tune is good its safe to drive bet it goes good.est i think mine used to do that a bit too

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
been for a run around the block. sv3800 bin idle was ok from start up, without resetting iac. go figure. short trip in suburbia did not allow much data logging. have a winaldl log file but hard to read in raw format. is there an easy way to convert to spreedsheet(s). just a question about EST mode, I assumed EST mode was ecu control of timing as it was initially flagged when rpm>1500 but today while driving around the EST flag was never set. when should EST mode be flagged.
