Ok I have a legit paid subscription to sps and I’m trying to install on a windows 7 x64 pc which is not against the EULA, but just against their recommendations.

As mentioned before it gets to installing the MDI2 it fails which sucks because I don’t even use that feature nonetheless it’s failing from some silly old DWA13 wireless network driver removal program failing.

I captured the removal program in my temp folder. How can I tell what it’s dependencies are? Maybe I can move the required .dlls over from a windows 10 machine?

I also got the offending mdI2 software installer from Boschs website.

So if I can get it to run error free maybe techline will run?

You will need an older version of gm mdi manager, and maybe downgrade the software version of mdi. Not sure which is the latest version supported by win7, some various versions of vc_redistributables runtime installations are also needed.

Going to be tough since that's the new MDI2 wireless adapter update they're pushing thru.
Why is it failing? possibly disable windows 7 driver verification?? google "windows 7 disable driver signature enforcement "
I have no idea if that would help, used to do that to get XP drivers to install on windows 7, or 32 bit drivers to install in 64 bit systems..

Got sps working on windows 7 professional x64!!

Took a lot of circumnavigation!

Seems to work way better than even my native windows 10 install, nice and fast!

Why does windows 10 suck so much?

Any in the end three problematic updates

First is mdi2 new update fails
Tech2win also fails

J2534 wrapper doesn’t fail but causes the mongoose to not communicate in any program!

I used the latest versions that work on windows 7 for mdi2 and tech2win.

Then some secrete sauce was needed to get it to not update mdi2 or tech2 win.

Then I made a backup of all gm folders, installed the j2534 wrapper, then reverted to the backups, finally that worked!

However I still don’t have a type 4 option enabled!!! Darn it!

My bench setup for this desktop doesn’t have any decant controllers and I can only get to download the calibration, then it hangs trying to program it. So unless I actually need a successful programing event through and through to add type 4?

Will port this windows 7 vm to my laptop and try it on a real car!

I am skeptical though because when I had windows 10 on vm in the MacBook it would never validate controller just gave a error message, yet it was connected because it polled the vin just fine! Plus any other gm app like gds2 worked fine, same with dps.

So I’m definitely curious to see it it works with this windows 7 drive! Let’s hope so it much lighter and faster so if ram was the issue in windows 10 in good.

Finally I have techline on my MacBook. And it works great!

I am now working on cluster hacks for my trax!

-enable ipc boost bar graph
-enable oil pw bar graph
-enable all tire pressure display
-enable speed graph
-turn off or enable any dtc
-disable tpms light

Will try to write one of them tomorrow most likely boost bar graph that’s kinda cool!
