Re: OBDX Development - Developer Tools and Suggestions
HP & pcmtec for this pleb
Re: OBDX Development - Developer Tools and Suggestions
PCMTEC works with the obdx and is the recommended cable.
Any logger that supports a J device will work. ScanXL looks decent for a universal solution.

Are there any updates to remote OBDX Pro J2534 programming?
Re: OBDX Development - Developer Tools and Suggestions
Iv decided to go down a different method for creating the remote connection to the server, since my previous method was chewing through bandwidth/CPU too much on the server side.oldtinfords wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 6:52 am Are there any updates to remote OBDX Pro J2534 programming?
It will still be moving forward, but I need to switch the connection method at the server side.

You know after using a heap of logging software what would be great is a set and forget simple "black box" logger.. OBDII with card reader and a simple config file of what PIDS to record.. A simple drag and drop UI like split screen Mode$01 Would probably get most people done, if you need more then get laptop out.. No other features. Cheap price... Cant even display live data only capture... Universal maybe with option to add "Dealler" PIDS but not necessary... Simple , CSV... maybe TAB..if it has to be
Some good loggers ive used.
Rom Raider
Ecu Edit Logger (logs any car)
Scanxl (end of life) Have to Import or mod csv
OBD Wizz (but have to import or mod CSV)
Log readers
Mega Log HD
Livelink Gen-II
Ecu edit Log viewer (features like megalog but different and possibly more detailed outputs once learnt)

Re: OBDX Development - Developer Tools and Suggestions
OBDXplorer was not really every designed to be a dedicated tuning logger, its main purpose was to simple test it can communicate with the tools and GM engine computers, although due to high amount of requests, it basically started turning into one once histograms was added. Eventually other vehicle specific PIDs/routines were to be added (In my never ending list of projects!).
In saying that, I would prefer a much more simple setup where there is no 'home' screen, rather just straight into displaying a list of available PIDs for a specific vehicle, along with a favourites list and a big open space where graphs, lists, displays ect can all be added. So... this may be put into the development list, and OBDXPlorer will be reverted back to a more basic design.
An SD card (Black box) style logger has been tested not too long ago. Originally being designed to allow flashing tuners files to a vehicle without the need of a computer attached and allow logging data to SDCard also.
This style setup really requires a full dedicated tuning suite to be integrated with since there is no open-source style application which such hardware can be connected to. There may be a couple companies that will proceed in the future, but only time will tell!
