Re: DELCOS NEW RIDE
the sfi billet steel one is heavier cause its not cast, but thats it.
i've actually looked on powerbonds calatogue theres no weight difference between red/blue/black only the steel race balancer!

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: DELCOS NEW RIDE
I could be wrong but I thought the head was around 54 cc factory.
But I will need to be corrected as its been years since I have done any of this work on the holden 6

Re: DELCOS NEW RIDE
8.6 will work ok! definitely high octane only though
all I know is I had a stock VK EFI head, got it decked as little as needed to true it up and then cc'ed and it was 54cc's im not sure if the pre efi black head is the same specs or not though.
that said anything is possible not knowing the history of the head! and if its got valves with a dish in the base that will increase cc's!

Re: DELCOS NEW RIDE
Have you ever seen a Falcon cross flow head fitted on a Holden? I know it's a bad cross breed but I do know they have been made to fit since the bore spacings are the same and they breath better than Holden heads.
Re: DELCOS NEW RIDE
Yea seen that but don't know how we'll it worked out they had to pita large chunk of alloy on the side of the block to compensate for the wider width I would have thought it would kill head gaskets quick as due to different expansion rates across the sealing surfaces

that was always a problem with the fords. I have replaced 8 4L ford head gaskets with MLS. That is the only way to combat the problem
stuffed if I know how they would get the OHC to work on a holden block though? was there ever a ford engine with cross flow and pushrod? I dont recall any?

Re: DELCOS NEW RIDE
yea the 4.1l was pushrod. the main concern about the head gasket going wasnt due to just them having crap gaskets its more that if you fit a crossflow head onto a 202 the head is physically wider than the block and a couple of coolant passages are just hanging off the side of the block and you would have to make the block bigger with extra metal which means you'd have 2 different metals expanding and contracting on one side of the gasket and then the head on the other side of it. iff you look up holden 6 crossflow head and go images it should be the first pic that pops up.
