you can hear the lifters pumping up just before it hits the limiter every now and then guessing stock old hydraulics dont like a 6800 limiter and 16psi on the inlet valves and high 30's on the exhaust valve LOL

how do you tell if they pump up? does the engine loose power suddenly or gradually?

If its happen too many times, does it stuff the lifters up?

you can hear the exhaust go all flufffy before the limiter allmost sounds like an msd limiter hitting.no damage unless you melt exhaust valves from continually holding the exhaust valve just off the seat.the lifters just drop faster than the rocker and pushrod move and allow the oil pressure to pump the seat of the lifter outwards which then holds the valve open a little when it closes instead of fully seating.antipump lifters fix this by having very small to NO preload so the pushrod seat cant pump out its allready out

just did a little reading, the cause is valve float like you describe.

So higher rated springs are the way to go by the sounds of it.

we have decient springs but a hydraulic lifter will only go so many rpm.springs helped our initial valve float and gained us 1/2 a second on the 1/4.solid roller next :D
