I had lots of bad experiences with xp, unstable, slow down to a crawl over few weeks when nothing was changed and didn't run a single old program or games that came over from win 98.

I went back to win 2k for the stability then eventually no one made drivers for win2k so I had to go back to xp  win2k still didn't run my old programs though.

vista cam out, seemed buggy but more stable that xp was for me. To my amazement it ran all my old programs out of the box, no patches or file mods or compatibility mode, nothing! just ran them as they were on win 98.
awesome! then win 7 came out and its just got better.

I'll remember that one. I also wondered if you could rotate the map.

Hi all, Just a quick question regarding setting idle spark. In the basic tuning guide where it says to change the main spark table 400-800 cells to match the idle numbers - does this mean only change the 400 & 800 cells in the 30 kpa column cause that's what this example is idling at? Or does it mean change all the cells in the 400 & 800 rows to match all of the idle kpa numbers in each colum? eg. idle table shows 7.73 at 100 kpa so make the main table 7.73 at 100 kpa and so on?

generally you'll match the map and rpm numbers for both tables, I said to change the 400rpm cell as well as its pretty much just a guess and will be close enough (if you ever get an engine to idle at 400rpm good luck :))

but definitely don't change the 800rpm row the whole way across, as it will want less and less timing getting to 100kpa end.

setting the two tables the same at idle is purely so there is a chance of it idling with smooth spark rather than jumping around between idle and main spark numbers .... I have seen cars with 1200rpm row spark table way different to the 800rpm row and this can cause a slight stumble coming off idle accelerating so its worthwhile blending any changes into the rows above idle if you need to make massive changes.

Thanks for the reply Holden202T. So I have changed the 400 & 800 rows to match the idle table as pictured.

Is what I have done correct or should I only match the one cell that has the bubble on it when idling in each table?

Thanks,

assuming that your engine is happy idling with that timing number than yeah thats ok. you'll probably find though at higher kpa's you'll want more timing than the stock idle settings though, but its all trial and error.
