Wow. Id like to argue with that for a bit! :)

Ive used G260 boxes in their 'original' places - under BMW-s for a while. And up to 804hp/960nm @ crank didnt have any problems. Even with slicks. (on concrete tho - we dont have a proper drag strip back home).

And my own beemer was just a notch under 500hp. Driven daily. No probs at all for about 15000km.

edit:
Are u saying that a T5 off a VS or Camaro/Firebird would be a better choice?
A fair bit cheaper tho! :)

hehe maybe not made of glass, I just remembered reading somewhere they were weak compared to g290, further research today suggests that as fitted behind commodores they are about as strong as T5... so should be ok as long as you dont smash the changes and drop the clutch everywhere. if youve had any experience at all with them then its more than me :P

i've heard alot of opinions that suggest T5's are only good for 220-250kw!

Cluster is not strong in the T5 .......over the years Ive rebuilt way to many......easy box to rebuild though.

Ok, there's a plan evolving. :)

Buy a blown up G260 that bolts up with Holden.
Buy couple of G260-s from BMWs from europe. Swap the internals. Be happy.

Have to do a bit of research on different g260's to make sure, the internals are the same.
PS. Haven't paid more than 100 bucks for a decent G260 back home. :)

Another idiea, if thats not going to work.
Cut the bellhousing from a blown G260.
Find a bomb proof gearbox (Getrag420 or somethin). Weld the bellhousing onto that.

Hi mate, have seen ur project there. Seems pretty good.
Actually would be good to see another car and gather some ideas.

And with the t5? its off vs or similar? how was the fitting process?
