Nissan CA18det

Post by MOPAR »

Im looking into delcoing a Nissan CA18 turbo motor for a buggy project. Im after some suggestons on how to tackle the ignition side of thing's. The original setup uses a Cam angle sensor igniter module and coil on plug (I don't have the igniter for it). Was thinking maybe use a daewoo type setup ?? anyone got any other idea's?

One day im planning on doing my sr20det (was on haltech when I got it, and so far havnt had the time to change it)..

When I do it im going to use the 4 cyl dis module described here:

https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... t=10#p2369

Note the note here also about the extra notch not being TDC:

https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... t=20#p9230

The pattern and method would match my mates 240z 6 cyl delco conversion here:

https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... =10#p11871

This would integrate with the D1927A module such as this one (around $100 from the states):

http://cgi.ebay.com/STANDARD-SMP-IGNITI ... 0289753336

And i'd drop 2 commodore coilpacks coils on top of the module.

massive thread dig. has anyone had a go at this? using the d1927a on a ca? these days it'd nearly be better using the universal module and ls1 coils? i have a ca18de+t in a ke30 corolla. it has a microtech on it which is crude as buggery. (no idle speed control ffs!) delco looks heaps better.

ive done it on an isuzu 4 cylinder, not delco native, it'll work the same. your right though using one of vl400s ignition modules with your nissan cas might be a better option, depending what you fabrication skills are like. Ive run one of those on a VG30 with the nissan cas and ls1 coils.

Ahh nice :)

Im sure the abs sensor style trigger will be no problem.

The bellett with one is here:
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2276

The thread makesit look like we had heaps of problems with the trigger but really it was just a bad module all along. Its probably worth buying 2 straight up if you go this way so you have a spate for testing.

i'd like to think my mad skillz have improved since then! it'd certainly be very convenient if vl400's module will work off the ca's cas.
