Crane 276 base tune ATJN?

Looking to tune up a fresh but pretty much stock VP 5L HSV. Only mods it has are fresh valvetrain components and a Crane 276 cam with appropriate lifters and springs backed up by a full exhaust. Nothing crazy here lol

Have OSE $12P V111 on TP and really like the look of it yet the car I'm looking to tune runs ATJN in the ECU.

I would like to run OSE $12P V111 BLCF yet the Memcal ID tool tells me that the BLCF tune is a VR V8 tune.

Am I better off starting with an ATJN base or modifying the BLCF to run auto trans settings (and whatever else is different between the two tunes)?

nah all the 304's are pretty much the same, unless it has extractors, then you need a 185 VE table, but youll need to do a lot of work to the VE table for the cam anyway., the BLCF cal can run the T700 tcc lockup and everythin. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... 157#p12688 this tune I posted is a standard 304 with 286 cam in it, might be an ok place to start looking for ideas.

O.k. I'll have a look at the 286 with blue tops tune. Will give me some practice with using the difference function me thinks as I've never tuned MAP before

Yeah that tune looks like it will way over fuel the stock little set up we have with stock injectors but was food for thought for sure.

Luckily the car has a Knock sensor on it so that's some peace of mind while starting out. Just not too sure how sensitive they are on the 5L as I'm used to using the ecotec/ l67 with twin knock sensor software which is very safe to tune with.

So I'm just o.k. to copy n paste values from one tune to another as long as the final tune/xdf combo I pasting to is compatible yeah?

There are some crane 276 tunes in here .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=140

The knock sensor in early vehicles is not nearly as good as the later models but is still handy to have when tuning. You can copy and paste provided the rows and columns are the same along with the conversion - ie cant directly copy a VN $5D VE table to 12P due to the table breakpoints.

Thanks for that Ryan. However my concern is that those tunes appear to be for VS and VR whereas I'm tuning a VN with an ATJN $5D factory tune. I guess the main differences would be to auto trans TCC settings yes? If that's the case I can focus on them and manually go through them and make them correct but I've had trouble differencing VN to VR or VS tunes as they use different XDFs so that's what has me stumped......

I recon take the VE map from the VR one and chuck that in your tune (if its a different size table, use excel to copy the data to the exisitng rows and write forumulas to average the neighbouring cells with data to populate empty ones. It wont be perfect, but is probably a better starting point than a factory VE map. I dont know what difference a cam makes to spark requirements, bit I imagine it mainly increases pumping efficiency and therefor affects VE.
