Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
my 202 with the original vk efi regulator is about 30psi at idle and a bit over 40psi at 100kpa
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Ok, so now I'm confused - that's even lower than mine?Holden202 wrote:my 202 with the original vk efi regulator is about 30psi at idle and a bit over 40psi at 100kpa

Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
it really doesn't matter what your rail pressures are, just a matter of adjusting kinjflow and VE table to suit your fuel system.

Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
Awesome write up looking forward to seek g the end result. Good luck.
Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
This finally turned up today
I just finished building the unit, will make up the cables and calibrate it later tonight Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
I pulled the exhaust off to track down the leak(s) that was throwing the WB out, and found the bottom flanges on the header were far from flat
The ears were bent down on both flanges, so there was no hope of the gaskets sealing - easy fix though.
But the stripped exhaust stud wasn't so easy. There wasn't enough thread left on the stud to get a nut to grip, so I welded a nut onto the end but when I went to undo the stud, it snapped off
So I tried filing 2 flats on the remaining bit, but couldn't get it to turn so welded another nut on after soaking the stud in wd40 for a few days, and more wd40 while the weld was cooling - no luck this time either, the stud snapped off even lower
So it looks like I'm going to have to pull the head, not happy.

a cheaper option might be to get a reverse drill, often drilling out will allow it to screw out, or there are also products called easy outs which can help you, i'd try that before pulling the head!

Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
antus had a water pump bolt that was pretty well stuck and got a bolt removal guy out - from memory the price was not too bad. There might be some companies like that over your way too, could save a heap of work!
Re: another Alfa Romeo conversion
As a last-ditch attempt before admitting defeat and pulling the head, I ground a chamfer on the remaining bit of stud and turned a taper on a bolt tail of matching thread - then welded them together
I splashed out on a new set of brass manifold nuts, and will find out whether I'm out of the woods once I re-fit the rest of the exhaust and fire it up...
Yes it's dodgy, but just trying to buy some time until I get a chance to overhaul and port the replacement head.

just don't lean on it too much and it should work!
