Re: Hemi Dodge 114
more than likely, most people with the stalling issue is from no vss, try winding the idle stop screw in a little bit, just make sure if you do it you still have a few IAC steps at warm idle and it might help the issue a bit.
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Hemi Dodge 114
if i use a wheel speed sensor or some such, could i just use a half wave rectifier ? or would it need a "cleaner" signal ? and also, if there's no vss does that mean no lean cruise ?
Re: Hemi Dodge 114
VR sensors voltage varies with speed so you'd have to limit the upper voltage too - but at low speed the voltage wouldn't be enough to trigger a pulse.
Some late model cars (and bikes) use hall effect sensors for ABS, 3 wires would be a start to identify a potential donor.
I think the vn v6 crank sensor is made up of a pair of hall effect sensors - you might be able to chop one up to make a useable sensor?

Re: Hemi Dodge 114
i reckon i can bodge up a chopper wheel and sensor pretty easy. the inline setup is neat and would be easy. also exxy, $200 ish by the time i buy it and get the cable modded. another thing i looked at is the sensor for the old style add on cruise control. it puts out a sine wave, and uses magnets fixed to the tailshaft. how difficult is a circuit to convert ac to hall effect to construct ?
Re: Hemi Dodge 114
If you can't find a (reasonably priced) hall effect sensor, I can post you a bare sensor or two.
You'd just have to sort out some kind of mounting arrangement, like araldite it to a backing plate or something.

i've had a hunt through my gear and found a couple of (gasp!) falcon hall sensors from distributors. i'll sort something out with them. might even try and do it at the speedo end to keep it out of the dirt and water. i'll let you know how i go.

Re: Hemi Dodge 114
i've been trying to get a abs sensor working with a circuit VL400 gave me to use in the diff as a speed sensor but i have yet to have any luck getting the circuit to produce anything in the ecm logs .... i really should get back to it!

Re: Hemi Dodge 114
Maxim's MAX9924 is a neat way to convert a VR sensor signal to TTL, or there's the older LM1815 etc - but why not just use a hall effect sensor to start with?Holden202 wrote:i've been trying to get a abs sensor working with a circuit VL400 gave me to use in the diff as a speed sensor but i have yet to have any luck getting the circuit to produce anything in the ecm logs .... i really should get back to it!

Re: Hemi Dodge 114
i honestly don't care what i use but it needs to be something thats not too hard to mount ....
i gave up on trying to find a sensor that would fit in the tranny of a powerglide or trimatic so started looking at using the commodore abs wheel sensor as i can easily weld the bung into the diff and then jam the sensor ring on an axle ....
if you have a better suggestion then im all ears ?

Tis using an LM1815 for ease of DIYness, max9924/max9926 is my reluctor interface of choice but was not DIY PCB friendly for holden202
