You could check your setup on another vehicle??
Use a standard ALDL high speed cable and see if it talks....
Might be connection config in tunerpro....

Are you using a USB to serial device or does the laptop have a native serial port? For the flashtool setup when connecting to 12P just select the comm port and in the drop down vehicle preset box "VR '808 ($12 type code)". Everything else remains as standard - the 808 comms does not have echo.

From your last post it sound like something has stolen the com port, make sure TP is closed (may need a reboot if its crashed and the program is still running in the background).

The Tx LED being on indicates, in your case, a $5D bin with no 8192baud ALDL. If the NVRAM is corrupt and you end up in limp mode the Tx LED will also be on solid. If your NVRAM loaded with 12P shows a quick flash of the LED at key on it means the ECU is running the bin fine

Okay, Not using a usb-serial adaptor, lappy has native serial port. have had it read the original chip but when lappy crashed i lost it, upgraded to vista & since then haven't been able to get the serial port working properly.
If the NVRAM is corrupt can & how would that be fixed?? have reprogrammed the $12p bin & xdf files to it again, will go & check it
again soon.. Cheers for everyones assistance

If the NVRAM is corrupt the Tx LED of the comms board will be on solid when the key is on. The LED on the NVRAM will also turn off instantly when the key is turned off instead of the 2 second delay you normally get. If this is the case, just reprogram the base 12P bin using an EPROM programmer.

Its sounding like maybe vista has not setup the com port drivers or something. As someone else suggested, got anything else that uses the serial port to test it on?
