Connection Issues

I'm having trouble getting a Toshiba notebook to connect to my ecu. I set it up the same as the Sony, (XP os) that I have, but can't get it to connect.
It's a Toshiba Satellite, (Vista os). As far as I can tell I followed the instructions in the Tools section. Is there anything special that has to be altered using Vista?
ECU has NVRam+USB comms board.

have you checked that the com port is set right in the software, what about echo settings ?

Do both the flashtool and TunerPro not work? Are you seeing any flashing of the LEDs on the USB comms board when trying to connect? Echo must be set for the USB board. Drivers for vista should install automatically, but if not they can be downloaded from the FTDI website .. http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Thanks for the replies, sorry I didn't give enough info.
I'm not sure if I've got the com port set correctly, but I have a screen shot.
The 2 led's on the comms board are not lite, only the blue light comes on when plugged into the USB.
How do I check that the correct drivers have installed? (As a computer geek I'm a good mechanic.) I'm not familiar with Vista, still working my way around it.

The settings looks correct. If you right click my computer and select properties, and then from the window that opens select device manager you can see what devices are installed and available. Under Ports there should be an entry called USB Serial Port with the port number to use. Clicking that and under the driver tab can see what drivers are in use...

Well I've had success  . When I checked the comm ports in device driver, there was no "USB serial port" listed, when I plugged the usb cable in the car, the "USB serial port" showed up, changed to the correct port & it now hooks up. Thanks for the help.

I'm having connection issues of a different type now.
I can connect to the ecu using the OSE Flash Tool 1.36, then open TP5 OK, then press connect in TP5, "Connected" shows up all with the ignition ON. Then start the car & TP5 flashes "Data Error" instead of connected.

If I start the engine, then connect the Flash tool, I get the following screen.

I've used the bin that is currently the car but it is set up for different injectors, 12P V110 on a memcal. I upgraded to V111 with lots of other setting changes to the bin which is still on the NVRam, but neither will connect with the engine running.(Flash tool or TP5)
I can connect to my Torana ecu ok using 12P V111, but can't start the car as it's straight 6 not V6. So I'm at a bit of a loss, I've also used 2 different laptops, both do the same thing.
These are the bins that I've been using, the 1st is a V110

Can you try a differernt USB cable? It looks like USB side of the interface is dropping out. If its still a problem will send you a new interface.
