uv eraser

[v8-tuning]

what uv setup are people using to erase the whole memcal?
used to have one which i unscrewed the base to fit it in.
cant find any similar units,so looking for an easier option.

yeah i have the asian ebay uv eraser, i just removed the drawer from it and cut a slot in the bottom of the hole for the memcal to stick into it ... don't need to remove the memcal chip then.

I just left the lid unscrewed and lift it up to sit the memcal in the drawer

been using that same one as well, do the same trick with the lid off lol, still going after about 5 years i think and few hundred erasures. Had to get a adaptor for the power plug though which was worth more than the eraser!

Get a mains powered one, not a low voltage one that runs the tube from a high frequency inverter/ballast. Those ballasts are invariable cheap junk and wear the expensive tube out quick smart. Best thing I ever did was track down a 4 watt iron cored ballast and starter and convert mine to 240V operation. The glow from the tube is now much stronger and "thicker" inside the tube, and also more uniform along the length of the tube.

And no, I didn't spend a long time looking at it.
