Converting 202 to ABS Crank Trigger
Re: Converting 202 to ABS Crank Trigger
So when you go to the 6 coils what changes with wiring etc?
Re: Converting 202 to ABS Crank Trigger
You currently have VL400's module will you need to change from to to setup like the V6's?

Re: Converting 202 to ABS Crank Trigger
The module has 8 outputs that can be configured to suit anything from 1 coil to 8 sequential coils. Wasted spark, twin plug per cyl or twin distributor are also other output options. So long as the trigger pattern has a way that the module can identify an individual or pair of cylinders more than one coil can be used.
The 36-1 crank trigger has a way that the module can identify 2 cyl so can be used for wasted spark, add a cam sensor and sequential ignition can be used.

Re: Converting 202 to ABS Crank Trigger
Thanks for that. So without the cam sensor does it fire all coils at once or in sequence?
Re: Converting 202 to ABS Crank Trigger
haha youd have fun starting an engine that fires all 6 coils at once
it no cam sensor you configure it as 3 groups of 2 coils. it fires the two cylinders that are at TDC at the same time. one of the two is at the top of compression stroke, the other is at the top of exhaust stroke, that is what wasted spark means. (it is also how a v6 commodore is from factory) so you really have 3 spark outputs firing in sequence off the crank trigger then. add a cam sensor then it can differentiate which cylinder is on the right stroke, then it fires 6 in sequence.

If your referring to the one cable tied to the shopping trolley then yes it's an external Bosch 044 pump
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

So how did this all go? Have you finished off the 6 coil setup mate? If so did you go wasted spark or have you developed a cam angle setup and driving sequential?
Are VL400's drivers available now? this would be a great setup to try installing.

Re: Converting 202 to ABS Crank Trigger
yeah i think we are all but sorted with the 6 coils and the ignition module, the car run a 10.54 at WSID a few months back and the motor sounded crisp the entire run, no missing or anything like that! but unfortunately i haven't been able to get too many logs of my good runs (long story) but i am happy to say its working flawlessly ...
it is running wasted spark, i had a look at a cam sensor and it just got too hard and i really didn't see a massive benefit from it so didn't go any further!
as far as when its going to be available thats for VL400 to answer.
heres a pic of the completed setup, 6 coils dizzy removed and a bung in its place and you can also see the 36 -1 trigger wheel and ABS sensor on the side of the crank.
