VY Flash PCM Info

Those who may have read in other topics, at the moment I have a dead L67 on my hands. Being cheap :p and given a lot of the really top stuff for these engines only comes EX US I am shipping a new engine over from the states but this will come via Sea Freight and take quite a few weeks.

In the mean time I have picked up a low km VY engine & gearbox to put in the car until the new engine arrives. To my surprise, when I picked the engine up, its been supplied with harness and PCM. This is a VY L36 and so therefore has the flash PCM. Reading the getting started guide it appears all the L67's were delivered with the memcal based PCM's.

My question is, its mentioned that the Flash based PCM's run at a higher clock speed. Would I see any advantages to running the new L67 on this PCM?

The i think it is easier leaving the original l67 vy memcal pcm otherwise you would have to remap the whole flash pcm to suit.

That is true. You can also drop one of VL400s realtime boards in the memcal PCMs, wheres as realtime converting a flash pcm is possible but quite some task. I cant think of any feature in the NA VY tunes that would justify the effort. The clock speed doesnt make it better by default.

If converting a Flash PCM to real time is an issue its probably not worth it then as the VX PCM already has the NVRAM conversion. I was mainly thinking the higher clock speed could provide some benefit, if not then no biggie, I have a VT n/a it might find its way in to then :p

flash isn't nvram its just has a eeprom onboard. Also Flash PCM code doens't go as far as L67 PCM, eg flash max's at 700cylair, L67 to 850, there's lots of other differences.

Hopefully someone will make use of a couple of flash PCM's donated with harness's to get a higher MAX cyl air for them though soon?

No Pressure...LOL
