picked up some stuff from the wreckers including a VS purge canister.

to my surprise is has an extra vapor line to which I have no idea where it goes?

one is the the solenoid, one to the tank purge as its labeled, the last one says air.

what does that mean?

202 do you have a diagram of the emission lines?

The air port is to allow fresh air to flow into the canister when the purge solenoid is active, drawing the fuel vapor out of the charcoal into the engine.

ok, I sorted of figured that this morning as the VP one also has an air hose but is located on the bottom.

Blowing air in to the vs one with the lines blocked showed me its a sealed units and thus the one labels "air" must be the air vent.

what confuses me it that the air line was clearly attached to a line, but where it went I have no idea as I have no access to a VS to have a look, searched high and low on the net and found no clear info about its plumbing.

Even poor pics I found showed the air line ran somewhere but I couldn't see where?

I think it just goes somewhere out of the way so it doesn't suck in as much water/dust/dirt etc. so the filter in the canister doesn't get clogged as quickly

it better not, means I would need to run a new line. I only have one in mine.

Need to look at a VS myself, but I know no one who has one, either its VT onwards or crappy VN.

I know a young kid, few years younger than me with a yard with at least 10 commodores plus other aussie cars, not one is VS though.

oh well, I'll work it out.

mines a vs and that's where it looks like it goes, from can port into metal line all the way to the back, as they have twin hoses that goto the filler cap, one for tank and one for canister. Will see if any of the service manuals also have this.
