Well managed to source a complete 3-fe engine. Should be picking it up on sunday if it all checks out.

So if that pans out i will swap the heads and use the standard 3fe intake manifold.

Forward information on email.

Im taking a guess that the 3fe uses a hall effect type sensor.

As the wiring diagram from the FSM
3FE_FSMSchematics.pdf
(6.3 MiB) Downloaded 247 times
Distributor has three wires that wire directly into the ECU. The ignition module
has two wires to the ECU but is wired to the coil, ground and tacho comb meter
Which is the speed sensor built into the dash cluster which reads off the speedo
cable.

After reading more about the speed sensor it produces 4 pulses per rotation of the speedo cable.

Apparently the ignition module and coil are pretty much brand new so im wondering
if its possible to use this?

Sorry about the bad pics I didnt get any time to pull anything apart as of yet.

If anyone can shed any light on the ignition setup and the best way to do it, it would
be appreciated.

Cheers

Andrew

Looking at the wiring diagram it has twin channel injection so figured it likely has a home/TDC signal. Found a pic of the 3FE dizzy innards. Could mod the 24 tooth to become a 6 tooth and use a camira module. Toyota loves reluctors.

So do you think there is no chance of adapting the existing ignition module with the delco?

Not without a black box of magic smoke - would need some sort of interface for the reluctor signals, needs to handle cranking spark and then EST spark and then feed the existing module. A camira module is much easier. If you dont want to mod the dizzy my (still in development) custom module will work with a 24 + 2 dizzy.. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/view ... =10#p27226

Ok well after looking into it and checking a few things with VL400 (Thanks for your help). it looks like i cant use the 3FE distributor on the 3F engine. As they are different distributors (Drive gear is set at a different length). I found this out by ringing Toyota to order a new drive gear fort he distributor as i need to take the shaft out of the distributor and get some teeth machined off the 24 pin wheel.

But looking at the part numbers online (3F - 1919560040 & 3FE - 1919561240) that the gears are at opposite end of the locking pins.

I am going to look into this further when i pull the 3f distributor out of my landcruiser and compare the two side by side.

Ok guys have another question for you. I am wanting to use the standard toyota TPS if possible. Can anyone please verify from the attached post if it would work. Otherwise i think my best bet would be
to change out the throttle body with a VN v6 one.

Dont need to use the IDL wire, it will work using the other 3. I am using the toyota one one a Lexus V8 and works fine on a delco. VC gets 5V TPS ref, E2 TPS ground and the VTA to the TPS input.

cheers for that.

Now just want clarification. from my understanding i can just run a wideband controller like the innovate lc-1 without using the narrowband as i seen s landcruiser tune posted in custom tunes for OSE12P. Is this correct?

I have purchased a copy of the tunerpro rt so cant wait to get playing with this but which would be the best tune to start with? The car is 4L inline six.
