V6 Remote Oil Filter

Post by VL400 »

Has anyone seen a low profile remote oil filter adapter for the early (VN-VR) V6? The filter and the rectangular mount its attached to is taking up a heap of room that could be used for other better things. The rectangular mount might be oil pump related with the pressure spring?

Very nice, I think that may be exactly what is required. Will measure it all up today and see what room there is, will then be either what holden202T showed me which leaves the rectangular block and oil pressure spring or this.

oh yeah, to add a bit more on the housing .....

this is a stock ecotec one which sits lower and on a slight angle down. also note the oil pressure sender location

so this one is a VN-VR typical oil filter housing, but its obviously got a remote adaptor on it - note that the filter sits alot higher on this one, and the oil pressure sender is at the top.

from my travels i believe there are also other locations to suit american buicks, and sideways mounted motors .... might help someone one day.

you can actually tap the alloy housing itself in the front and back and block the end off where the filter goes ive got a modded one in the shed ill try go there and take a pick very simple

Oh that it nice!

but can we just use the longer K&N filter? there is plenty of room for one.

in a commodore you probably have no need to change anything .... this is more for conversions where there is not as much room.

I thought the main reason for it was to run a larger filter?

the stock V6 ones are really pathetic. same size a as a briggs lawn mower engine oil filter.

Most remote oil filter adapters use a Z9. Cheapest big assed filter out just about. Derale make a twin Z9 adapter which is quite affordable and takes -10 without restriction.
