Re: VS Commodore 202 Drag Car :)
i agree apples hehehe not that i have a problem with v6's.
power at the wheels when it was in the gemini with trimatic and methanol delco efi was 199.7HP ... i am figuring it shouldn't be too different to that now with the carby ... but we'll eventually get it dynoed so we'll see i am actually very interested to see how the vk efi manifold compares to a methanol 500 holley!
i'm not so much keeping track of the runs the motor has done more just my drag racing times in general, but i do list on the spreadsheet when i've changed motors etc too.

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: VS Commodore 202 Drag Car :)
finally got a chance to work on this thing when its not 40 degrees!
so the mounts are done and gussetted probably more than needed
so we are now starting to work on all the extras, exhaust, fuel system etc.
on a side note, my other brothers turbo v6 vp has moved out to this place for storage as Mick has moved house and can't keep it there atleast at the moment, so anyways, Scotty took it for a test run up the road and i think is hooked on turbos hahahaha

I was expecting you to use a V8 cross member so you could use standard style mounts, I guess they'd bend if solid mounted anyway

Re: VS Commodore 202 Drag Car :)
yeah if we had a v8 crossmember we probably would have, but also we wanted to get the motor back as far as we could so they may not have lined up anyways, plus the steel came from the brothers work free of charge and solid mount means no breaking rubber mounts

hahaha yes that is Harry my trusty sidekick i took him to my brothers place to hang out with my brothers younger brother of Harry (from the same parents different litter) and after he'd had enough he parked under the car in the shade!

Re: VS Commodore 202 Drag Car :)
good productive arvo yesterday, got accelerator bracket made, just need a bracket for the return spring and shes sorted, exhaust is all sorted to the end of the muffler, just need to drill and weld in the o2 bung, fuel line is alot closer, also got some vacuum hoses and such.

I know this is going to sound stupid as smoothness & comfort-ability isn't an issue, but a engine being solidly supported to the chassis would do long term damage over time wouldn't it with torsional movements & vibrations?

Re: VS Commodore 202 Drag Car :)
your probably right, and v6buckets torana is a perfect example, and im not even sure his is solidly mounted but when a car twists as much as his on a launch its bound to take its toll eventually.
i guess thats half the reason for a good solid cage, i know the back half i have has stiffened up the gemini heaps!

With noise and vibration testing at work on solid mounts its not the twisting of the chassis that breaks the mounts.
It is the hertz thats out of sync between the engine rpm - solid mount - chassis.
They use accelerometers and a special hammer connected to an oscilloscope and check what hertz is going through the engine at a particular rpm
and at the chassis and tune ie grind little bits away at the mount to the correct hertz.
