delco for a ford v8

Trying to come up with a way to use a 2002 ford 5 litre v8 in a hot rod, for which I've purchased a more attractive aftermarket inlet manifold (for an open engine bay).
Issue is the smartshield security system and its inherant problems.
was referred to your site for the possibility of using a delco ecu.
Issues are that the motor uses a twin coil pac, crank and cam position sensors, and I have an electronic 4 speed auto trans.
Not looking for performance tuning just to get the thing to run as normal for the moment.
Thought a solution would be to use an ecu, loom etc from a v8 commodore and connect to the ford sensors, injectors etc, but understand that the model i want is VS which uses 8 individual coil packs, and looking through the holden manuals looks as if it only gives signals for 3 speed auto?.
Reading through posts on this site it seems that the delco unit could do what I'm aiming for but I was hoping someone would have already done this and could help me out.
Concerns are: if I could use the outputs from the delco ecu to fire the 2 coil packs by connecting the appropriate connections in parallell to the coil packs, are the outputs from the ford crank and cam angle sensors likely to be compatable with the delco unit. What parts of the holden loom and electronics do I need to source. Am I correct in the holden model choice?

Of course in hind site I made a difficult choice in drive train, but every one uses a 350 chevy and I'm in so deep now I have to continue.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Cheers and hapy new year
john

it maybe easiest to find a commercial solution to turn your security off or see if someone makes a bcm or security simulator.

What crank signal does your ford engine use?

If you want to retain the factory FORD (found on rubbish dump) PCM, you could always just disable VATS & write it to a J3 & done, can even tweak more if really wanted, but there a PITA as they don't seem to have any real logging features!

I looked into a similar situation for a friend of mine.

Anything can be done, given the amount of time and patience available. As you have the coilpack engine, to run the delco you would either have to go back to the distributor setup, or to run coilpacks, run a northstar setup, which would mean changing the crank trigger and from memory they run wasted spark, so you won't need the ref trigger.
There is also the option of using the LS1 system if you are going to go to the trouble of changing the triggers.

None of the GM systems will run the trans out of the box.

To operate the trans, the ford system is the easiest. Otherwise you will have to run an aftermarket trans controller.

Check out the quarterhorse, it's a EEC ford tuning solution. Should be able to get around the smartlock for a whole lot less mucking around. And as you are changing the intake, it may need a tweak here and there.

I have attached a guide written by a guy going through a similar thing.

The harware is available here - http://www.moates.net/

There is also a guy in Melbourne who specialises in the Ford system. When I get some time, I will try to find his contact details for you.

Hi guys just regestered and noticed this post , ive had an au 5ltr running on street pro 3 for about ten years now its done a
great job . Not the friendliest software if just learning but it certainly has worked well. Im not running au coils i put a el dizzy in it minus the tfi and modified chopper wheel. Anyone out there needs any help im too happy to help.

Does anyone else use this software or is there something better these days . I have a 8 cyl dfi and coils identical to a v6 but obviously an extra coil i got from the states and have been contemplating trying to utilize it .Otherwise ill be pulling the lot out and got to a coil per cyl set up and different efi ecu. Cheers
